Going green...
October 23, 2009 03:25PM
So I've totally jumped on the bandwagon and started justifying things in my life as being green.
I go to the bar to drink instead of drinking at home so that I don't generate excessive trash.
I'm not pitiful and without a driveable vehicle, I'm green and really enjoy having to ride the bus everywhere.
So what if I've worn these jeans all but one night this week. It's greener because I'm doing less laundry.
Same theory can be applied to showering daily, though I leave that up to being green by association since Mark and I are roommates.
I think Annorhexia could even be justified as being green, though as my friend Nikki pointed out, it's not really annorhexia if you drink your meals.

Oh! Laid in bed all day and did nothing. Means I used less calories and thus didn't have to intake as many! Green!
It's not that I'm lazy, I'm just trying to minimize my calorie use so I don't have to eat as much.

don't pay your utilities bill = less energy/fossil fuels used = green

which means the energy companies are then more green (reduced carbon output)...which has value to their corporate brand/image so then they should pay YOU to not pay your bill!

I think you're onto something.....

Bill problems disappear when you quit paying them. Not so green since most of them now send me three bills per month, but okay. I support forestry jobs.

plus drinking at home = cans or bottles

drinking at a bar means 1 glass, refilled via tap. less waste.

I actually was just sending a text message to a girl I like saying that shopping isn't green.
Who cares if these jeans have a hole in the crotch, it's not green to not wear them. I'm not wearing underwear either because all my boxers are dirty and already worn 2 or 3 times and well, it wouldn't be very green if I did laundry now would it.

This presents a bit of a conundrum when it comes to condom use.

Does anyone else think of Chris Tucker's character from 5th Element whenever they hear about someone being green? Luc Besson has always been a trendsetter though. He introduced us to Natalie Portman after all. One of my favorite uncouth jokes is to make mention of how hot she was in Leon the Professional. I can say that though because I was 14 when I first saw that movie.

I dunno 'bout that. Unless you're just getting tap beer, everything is STILL coming out of cans or bottles, PLUS there's the chemicals in the soap needed to wash the glasses, which causes more use at the water treatment plants. Plus the added overhead of HVAC for the public establishment, and higher power draw from the industrial-strength dishwashers and ovens and lighting and sound systems.

Plus there's all the polluting chemicals needed for laundry and more soap, since when you leave the bar, you reek of nasty cigarettes, cheap bear, and rancid vomit from the guy who puked on you.

Not to mention the higher concentrate of methanous emissions introduced to the atmosphere from the effluvium caused by bar burgers.

Green? SUPER Green!! (5th element is one of my favorite movies, actually.)
Then my brain somehow associates "SuperGreen" with "SuperStar" and I'm reminded of a bathroom stall being completely trashed.
