My back pain just started getting really bad, to the point where I went to the doctor. I had an MRI a couple weeks ago, and will be seeing the specialist this coming thursday. Went in for some pain meds, and the doctor says there's a herniated disc or two.
I just started researching what I could find on the subject of "herniated disc", and came up with all sorts of stuff that seemed like snake oil treatments.
Then I ran across a site that actually explained some things, and gave some exercises and stretches to try. At this point, i was taking 4 hydrocodone at a time, and could still feel the pain, so I figured i'd give it a try. i generally just took four ibuprofen in the monring, another four at noon, then the heavy duty stuff after I got home.
So, I'm at work, barely able to walk, and do a bit of stretching, and follow the advice on postural control. This was after the morning's ibuprofen wore off, but before I took the noon-time dose.
no fucking lie, within about 10 minutes, I could actually frickin; WALK without limping and causing horrible nasty pain to happen!
here's the link that started me off on this:
drbookspan.com
I ended up reading a bunch of stuff that she had online, and not only did it make sense, it is actually working for me. A friend at work had a diskectomy less than a year ago, and now he's starting to get his pain flaring back up again. so I scanned in the 'lower back pain' to a PDF, and gave it to him.
if you want, I can send the PDF I made to you. email me at sgtrauksauff at gmail dot com, and I'll send the PDF of the chapter to you via email.
The book itself has a 'non-scientific' title, but it has totally fixed so much of my pain that I can NOT express it adequately. The title is "Fix Your Own Pain Without Drugs or Surgery", by Jolie Bookspan.
I SO recommend the read!!!
