Utter madness.
And then I think of 'merikuh and the poor bastids in the "Formula SAE Ba-jaw" wasting their brains and time and college tuition of shit junk powered by... by......................................... by 10hp Briggs and Stratton POS relic crap.... 305lbs to 385lbs things powered my an utter POS. What could they learn by stretching themseleves beyond the imbecilic contraints of a lawn mower motor.. But Briggs and Stratton are a long term sponsor... Once again, outsiders with their own agendas stifle growth, and real fun. John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Well, the great thing about something that tiny - when you finally f-up and smack a tree, they can just leave the pieces in a convenient latrine-hole, anywhere.

Formula SAE guys use a 600cc Japanese 4-cylinder moto engine - but essentially it breathes through a soda-straw, so might as well be a lawnmower engine... Parfois, on fait pas semblant! I am: I know: I am from: Nobody. Nothing. Nowhere. |

Yes but "Formula SAE" occurs in a small parking lot, its not on gravel...it's kinda like "Personnel" Like this: <object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/DGCMyF-sA58?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/DGCMyF-sA58?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> video: <object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/DGCMyF-sA58?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/DGCMyF-sA58?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Wow, I thought I was the only one who cared about Formula or Baja SAE stuff. John, I'm honestly impressed with your knowledge. You are also spot on with the motors. Allows for some interesting transaxles though.
Soda straw restrictor and 450cc can get you to 60mph in 3.4 seconds ![]() |

the formula SAE guys seem to have whatever fun they want but it's big $$$. Was getting ice cream the other day and thought some jackass on a bike doing pulls down the strip before figuring out it was the Formula team doing some testing. Mini Baja always seemed like a warmed over go kart. Got to drive our schools one once, it was fun enough but not fast and the overall design is way too constrained. They Did they stop making them float?

as cool as they are I wonder where we could actually use them. I would think you could go hill climbing, maybe to an atv park etc. is there anywhere else? maybe piggyback on the side by side craze? -KTurner Stomp down on the exhilarator and hold on to the wheel. |

There is talk of allowing them at SCCA Rallycross but it's talk at this point. Personally I think it'd be pretty sweet but the problem (as I see it) is allowing them without allowing ATVs. Cars must have an enclosed cabin and a steering wheel? Pete Remner Cleveland, Ohio 1984 RX-7 (rallycross thing) 1978 Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver. |

Fix't the Fix. BTW, the roar from that engine gives me enormous wood, but staring at the back of the dude's head makes it all go away. Net Gain = Zero.... Parfois, on fait pas semblant! I am: I know: I am from: Nobody. Nothing. Nowhere. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/15/2013 11:30AM by Creech. |
