ISP suggestions?
March 08, 2008 08:16AM
I have asked this on SS too, so sorry if this is a
repeat for ya.

I'm looking for a new ISP. (inexpensive is important)

I want:

1. Microsoft Server rather than Unix, because I **might** need some SQL Server.

2. E-mail that is accessible from both MS Outlook *AND* a web-based e-mail interface.

I want to be able to receive ANY e-mail sent to jenisys.com (not just a few e-mail addresses I set up).
Goddady has this option; they call it "catchall".

3. Domain hosting and parking

4. Web hosting

5. Reasonable reliability

TIA

Not sure about the first one, but the rest are met with my hosting company, ixwebhosting.com

Huge amounts of space and transfer as well.

Jens, do you need some kind of Microsoft-specific SQL features? Because most if not all Unix/Linux hosting comes with SQL server access included.

I use and like site5.com. It's kind of tough finding good honest information on who are good hosting companies out there because they all have affiliate programs that give commissions for people who send clients their way. When I was looking 2-3 years ago, I seem to recall that site5.com, hostgator.com, lunarpages.com and dreamhost.com were some of the top hosts that were mentioned by clients and the few sites that seemed to have honest reviews. Things move so fast though that this may have changed by now.

Grant, is that a hosting company that you own/run, or just who you use?
