Resizing Photos

Wondering how some of you do it.
Ok,
Just pulled 100 some odd photos off my digital camera into a folder on my desktop.

They're on average 1.5 MB each. 4000x3000 resolution. HUGE!

What is the fastest way to resize all the photos to approx 400 x 300 resolution so the file size is suitable for emailing and viewing.

Most simply put... How do you resize 100 photos all at once? Not one by one.

Thanks

I've had some success using macros in Photoshop. Otherwise, maybe Picasa or Flikr?

Photoshop- if you have access to it, Setup up a macro and batch automate it. It runs the macro on each file located in the folder you point it to.

But microsoft also has a plugin tool to resize - you'd have to rightclick on each picture then select "resize".

Well, I'll be damned, John is right again. Irfanview has a batch revision routine in its software. It is good enough that the forensic engineering firm I worked for last year used it to save evidence photos.

I didn't have it. Now I got it.

It's a step up from MS paint of which I am so accustomed. It's a step up in terms of it's abilities and menu options, but it's also not complicated as all get out like photoshop is for me.

Thanks for the headsup!

It's a badass program. I like the standard size checkboxes for resizing. No guess work. I got the shortcuts down so I can open, resize, save and open another photo in about 7 seconds. While I can't do all of them at once it's pretty damn fast and completely user friendly.

IrfanView... why'd they name it that? Still not sure how to say it. what's an Irfan? or is it IR fan? Whatever it was free and it's nice and easy.

I seem to recall Skye said it was some Jugoslavian guy who invented it and that was his name.
Yeah: "The program is named for after its creator, Irfan Skiljan of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is pronounced /iːr.fæn.vjuː/.[1]. IrfanView works under all modern versions of Microsoft Windows (i.e. Windows 95 to Vista; Microsoft tested version 3.98, which was on the official Vista software list). It supports numerous file formats including: image formats such as BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG (includes the optimizer PNGOUT), TIFF, non-image media files such as Flash, (Ogg) Vorbis, MPEG, MP3, and text files."
