If you've seen Requiem for a Dream, this will make more sense.

That was one of the contest entries on a recent Fark.com Videoedit.

Probably the best one of 'em all, even though it broke the rules of the contest. Idea was to make a movie trailer that totally misrepresented the movie, using nothing but actual scenes from the movie and maybe some voiceover, just like real trailers are done. Examples include turning SW:EpIII into a gay love triangle movie (The Empire Breaks Back), Full Metal Jacket as a zany comedy, and so forth. Somehow I don't think the audio is from Toy Story 2 smiling smiley

The comments and contestants can be found at http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=1897418 but note that some of the video links may be offline by now.

Full Metal Jacket was a full length satire or farce.
It seems most people miss that, but it is comedy albeit very dark .
Kubrick beat viewers over the head to telegraph it numerous times but particularly the final scene where they all make a fire line and walk off singing
M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E, which was Viet Nam era slang for something that is faciacal, silly, pointless, or well mickeymouse.

Indeed, and probably why that particular trailer worked so well.

Of course if it doesn't have a laugh track, it can't be very funny can it? How are we supposed to know when to laugh without a laugh track, or at least some musical stings?

Yep, hearing them sing that still cracks me up. Mickey Mouse is a strong American symbol as well.
