Think about it. These people were photographed 100 years or more ago. They look just like we do today. Amazing the difference color pictures make.

Wow that is amazing. We are used to black and white pictures to show age. but damn if you didn't know you would think they were taken in modern times....

Yep and despite a World war, a Revolution, a Civil War, brutal modernisation plans and the most intense and brutal War in human history by a long shot being fought all over the place, it still looks a lot like this.

Years ago I stumbled onto some Russian rally sites and one of them was hosted or moderated or whatever by a guy who is a photographer so that led to other photo sites and that lead to series of archaic photos like these but also nature shots...
It is a huge country, much of it pretty, some of it beautiful.

I can understand why they love its nature so profoundly, becuase i have never met anybody---except Finns---who I have seen get so sentimental about their home-area when they are away.
