How to get from Vancouver to the Asylum
February 01, 2006 08:30AM
Ok you yooper beeches. I may have a chance to get out to Vancouver at the end of August to attend a conference for work, and I gather that's the closest I'll be to the Ford Asylum for some time, so it'd be a shame not to try and stop by. Is there a bus/train/donkey route that crosses the border, or is one consigned to finding a car or plane?

Can you prove you're not an AlQuaida operative?
Do you consent to permit to have all your communications monitored?
Do you pray to God to destroy our enemies?
Do you love and promise to obey our Leader?

Paddy...

There's a bus from Vancouver to Sea Tac (Seattles Commercial Airport).

http://www.quickcoach.com/schedule.htm

The Asylum is in the flight path (or close to) of one of the runways.

Pick up some beer and chips for the ride down before you leave Vancouver.

The train also might be nice.

Bribe someone with beer to come pick your ass up for a night. There's gotta be another rallyist Xratty perv in the area at the same time.

Derek's right,

The train would be nice.

The bus is an Archaic old MCI with newer Detroit Diesel series 50 powerplant.

The train would be a better experience than the bus.

But it doesn't go to Seatac, so someone would have to pick you up in Seattle.

Quick Shuttle isn't bad, the train isn't that much nicer. They take about the same amount of time, the train goes really slow through most of it.

Does the bus have a bar? Does the train?

Pick the right one, short taxie from King Street Station to Asylum.

Yeah but Derek... if you're really lucky then you get to sit at the back of the bus, listen to the whine of the turbo, your rectum tingle with vibration as the driver grinds his way through the gears, and of course lets not forget about the aroma from the little room ain the rear corner.

The train may have a bar, but lacks the cultural experience of the bus !

I will never ride a bus for any distance in the United States again after a 32 hour each way ride from Wyoming to Phoenix and back, back in my amateur skateboarding days. Now a bar on the train sounds like the right solution to me.

I think I'll try this bus business if Biomag will accept a submission from me...

Hokay, a plan is emerging!

I will be arriving in BC on Aug 19, and have work-related stuff until likely Wed the 23rd. I need to fly out of Vancouver back to Toronto no later than that Saturday the 26th. SOOoooooooo John, you want like I should take zee bus down on Wednesday, do the sleep on the floor/build crap/drink in the day for 24-48 hrs, then we make like banditos for the border with a pile of parts in the boot of an XR?

"Yes Mr/Mrs Border Official, we are headed up to BC so I can show Mr Crashlandingpad some Canadian Hospitality, and we simply forgot to unload the $2500 worth of junk in the back before we left..."

I thought it was don't say "extra containment chamber for the fuel cell."

Oh, wait, this is Off Topic. I thought I was reading Car Construction. Never mind.
