Tow Rig = highway miles.

How much off-road-ability do you need?

If you're trying to mix reasonable off-road-ability with highway performance, lotsa folks swear by the BFG All Terrains - and claim they last a long time too...

I opted instead for the Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10 - it's available in a LT tire like the BFG, and is a little cheaper too. Haven't put a ton of miles on mine, but pretty happy so far - not too noisy on the highway, pretty happy in the snow (what little we've had this year).

The other tire that had been highly reccomended to me - with a little less agressive tread, but probably better highway performance - is the Michelin LTX M/S 2. My 4runner had a set on when I bought it, and I didn't really notice anything especially good or bad until I nearly got stuck in the mud (in their defense, I was down to ~2/32s of tread across all the tires...)

Those Hankooks are supposed to be the bee's knees, and cheap to boot. They'll be going on my truck sometime this summer!

These will get 99.9% highway use. No snow. Just truckin'.

I can't remember when I last bought new tires.
I always get used ones from Craigslist.

Dealer take offs are a good bet, too.

Dude. Just find another Tundra in your area with decent tires and pay your neighborhood thug kids to jack them for you.

The tirerack.com customer reviews work VERY well!

With the 99% highway though, anything will work.

For the Yoop: My list only includes 2 HIGHLY reccomended, but not for you.

Nokian Vatiiva

and

Dueler Revo's

REVOs ROCK!

But would be a waste of money and rubber if you're just gonna melt 'em off on the dry high speed stuff.

When I lived in the Bay Area, severe weather was, and purchase of 4wd was for "if it might rain".

And when it rained, it was usually chaos.

IIRC Vatiivas are nothing more than Cooper ATs with Nokian lettering, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just worth checking to see if the Coopers are cheaper.

I'd go for round black Pirelli, but JV beat us all to it.

Craigslist or dealer take-offs is probably your best bet for 99.9% highway.

I've got the 'kooks and like them. new toyota dealer take offs, paid $200 for the set. Blocky enough to be ok in the dirt but not noisy on the road. Seem to be sipped well, but we've had 0 weather this winter so I don't know.

Had Hankooks on my 1 ton E350 and didn't like them, vibration problems after half worn. Now sticking with BFG, have had real good luck with them.
