So i picked up what i think to be quite a deal. Its an Atlas Press Co. Model 64 15" bench drill press. For 35 dollars no less! Not sure of its age, but likely 1940s. It was sold under Montgomery Ward (Sears?).

Works perfectly, heavier than hell, and eerie quiet.

That is bad ass! I almost picked up a similar era band saw last year but sold before I got to it. Similarly priced. Is that belt driven? The band saw looked so low tech that a mechanically inclined person could keep it running forever!

Wow! Crazy, I was JUST looking at old wood working equipment on craigslist the other night. All the old table saws, cabinet jigs, etc. The stuff is still around. We have an ancient looking table saw here (it's all steel, no plastic, the top is machine ground). It's fantastic to use.
