Wasn't the 6R4 engine known for snapping timing belts with alarming regularity? To be a "best" engine it has to actually run without intensive maintenance (which also eliminates any Porsche winking smiley )

I suppose "best" is open to interpretation. I was looking at it from the point of what impresses or entertains most, even if it is a bit unreliable.
A bit like......the same old stars are in the sky day in day out, but everyone goes "WOOO look at the shooting star".

We are all individuals and need to tolerate the whims of others. I'll bet you a beer and a chaser this guy thinks Dolmar engines are the best thing ever! LOL

Of course he would be wrong as everyone knows Huskys are better. ;-)

I would say the a mechanic's (Gene) definition of best is very different than some of the posters here.

It depends. Ford Tempos and Escorts were the best car. Ford sold a bazillion of them and they all required frequent front end and brake repair, which is probably the most profitable kind of repair that there is...

Yeah "best" and "my favorite" seem to be confused...

Best?
Some of those medium speed (round 600 rpm) 4 valve, twin turbo, V20, 10,500 shp diesels motors I worked on back in the late '90s in Massivetwoshits seem pretty amazing..
If they were a 2,0 liter they'd be a 280 bhp motor and they were run at full load for 24 hours a day for months on end racking up what would be 100,000 miles --in time--in maybe just less than 2 months.
And they ran for years...600 rpm , 10,500 shaft horse powerz..

That's a compliment...

Jens is unable to play any card other than pretend outrage...

Must be horrible to have such a crippled brain that synapses only function in one part of it...

I suppose Corn-yeti-cult is insulting?

I can't believe I'm doing this...

Dude, really? That wasn't really insulting. I'm pretty sure Genes not sitting at home in tears screaming "IM SO OFFENDED!"

Although, I think best is subjective, favorite is just that, and most reliable is something completely different, although for some, that could be what makes "Best"

Hence, the "Best" engine being the 4.3 Chevy.

Gene doesn't live in Massachusetts. Of course Gene would not be offended.

My comment was my observation: JVL appears to be unable to post anything without insulting SOMEONE or SOMETHING .

And Gene is also a well adjusted adult. So he doesn't look for offese and pretend to be offending at every single occurrence of anything beyond the end of his nose..

You're either insane or not serious..
Seeing 15 years of your incessant complaining---all you ever do-- except yap about some backwards built car you had 25 or 30 years ago----

I don't care which.

You should team up with the buddy of Morison who sent me a long rant including dictionary definition of the legal term slander and defamation and screamed at me for spelling Canadian as I had been told by nice guys up in Quebec who said I should say it "Canajian" . The guy is seriously deranged...at least 6-7 guys up all across the country since have all said "What the fuck? Are you serious? "

15 years at least and all you do is complain, no guiding hand, not a word ever of suggestions to newbs or guys building, not a single compliment to anybody for anything, just droning complaints of superficial unimportant shit..

Maybe all the negativity you see is because of what is inside your head.

Gene is not offended. While JV and I are happy to pull each others chains from time to time we don't take it very seriously. We don't need to agree with each other to support our chosen passtime and work towards a common goal. I'm taller and better looking, he's younger and has more hair. We survive the little scraps quite well. But then again I get along with Jens and Morison also. I need to start drinking again...
