How to un jam a Hi-Point CF .380?
January 27, 2013 05:33PM
I just bought my first fire arm yesterday. I went into town to buy a pizza, and one thing lead to another.

Anyway, it's a Hi-Point CF .380. Never been fired or cleaned. The store did't have any cleaning supplies in stock. I cocked it, and then it stuck.

This:

And yeah, I tried pulling back and then pushing forward. Wouldn't budge.

Why do you even need brakes? Are you some sort of pansy or something?

Nevermind. Guy from a Hi-Point forum helped me fix it.

Delete thread, please.

Good God man, have someone knowledgable show you how to safely Handle and Operate that firearm, before you shoot yourself in the foot with it!

I have to agree. Take a firearms saftey class. I did and it was fun. At least download the manual and read it.

Or better yet, give it to a friend or family member for a while!!!

Take your class, read, ask yourself why in the world would you feel the need to go out an buy a gun? Why now?

I'm not judging but with what you have shared in all of your prior posts I would suggest you take a huge pause and say I have exercised my rights (check) and then give the #$%@! gun to someone else while you answer those other questions for yourself.

Take care.

I was trying to get a friend to buy a gun for me the other day. His background check is already through and they're valid for 30 days or something.
He wouldn't do it though.
So I guess I'll stick with my Old English Mastiff and bedside tactical tomahawk for protection from "ze Germans" for now.

I've read that those things often have feed issues until the magazines are 'broken in'. Just what I've read in a few reviews. I'm sure some fine tuning/polishing/etc. would help speed things along too.

What? No, hasn't been loaded. Just put the empty mag in and cocked it.

And don't act like you guys have never walked in a store and made an impulse buy.

And what? No Anne, I bought it because empty beer bottles aren't going to shoot themselves.

And Grant, I was at the gun store for maybe 10 minutes. 5 for the background check, a few to see what gun I wanted, and another few minutes to drool over the 1970's Porsche 911 SC in the parking lot. I'd do it. They had a Kimber .40 for less than $200.

In Missouri you can get a hand gun in five minutes with a background check? Wow, here in Washington I believe I had to wait a couple days for the background check before I could have the gun.

thats because the state mandates a waiting period. the background check only takes a couple minutes.

I can't say nothin' about "impulse purchases" - I've bought two brand new cars that way (not to mention untold OTHER items that I really had no immediate "need" for - like weaponry).

Tyler, you really should check out a local (to you) CCL course for that thing - there's a guy in Joplin that's pretty good, I'm thinking about putting The Wife through his course (that may be a bit of a walk for you up there in the plains). Almost-certainly you won't have to go further than Columbia or Jeff City.

Familiarization with the pistol is the only thing I'm really worried about here (not yet knowing you personally, and giving you the Benefit of a Doubt that you're level-headed enough to own one). I just don't want to read of an accident here later.

IIRC, the local guy here has his course so that the CCL is actually Secondary - and has several exercises he puts his students through, including drawing and firing prone and supine. You'll go through at least 400rds before the day is over, and well on your way to becoming quite-proficient with your selected weapon.

And even those of us with experience have difficulty finding the slide release for the first time on a new (to us) gun.

Personally, its why I prefer revolvers. winking smiley
