Go away you ignorant, senile slut.

Start your own thread about your insane drivel...
Fawk it I'll start one for you just leave here, this thread is about remembering those who came before us who fought for everything normal working people have---it wasn't given at the birth of this country, it was fought for on the streets and in courts by people that knew and exemplified the idea of cooperation.

So obviously nothing for you.

I'm not much of a union guy. I'm in Chicago and have tons of family members in unions, but the unions in general around here are just out of control.

The original idea of the union was to provide a safe environment for workers, and to protect them from overly-greedy business owners. Now there's been a role-reversal. The unions are going WAY overboard, and it's the business-owners that need protecting now.

At least here in Chicago...But we also have corrupt politicians that will do anything for a buck or a vote.

Most of my friends/family treat it as an ordinary job. Go to work, do a great job, go home and live a nice life. They do side-work here and there for friends/family, etc. No biggie.

But we've also got guys that get totally brainwashed by the "union" mentality. If you do and side-work you're killing your union brothers! We're entitled to EVERY job out there! etc.

The carpenters just recently inflated their big rat and tried shutting down a job on my buddy's bar. My buddy is off the boat irish, worked his ass off for every nickel he has, and recently opened a nice bar in our neighborhood. He was making some improvements to the place, and hired his family and friends to help...The union guys sat out there screaming and making threats because they believe they're ENTITLED to that work...No one else is allowed to touch it. It drives me crazy.

This attitude is crazy, and I'm happy we don't see this out here with our unions.

Having said that, anybody that thinks unions aren't necessary now are crazy. Even in "socialist" Canada, the Alberta government forced prison guards back to work from an illegal strike after a new prison opened up and the government screwed around with a whole bunch of safety issues.

So yea, I definitely see the need for unions.

As for the address, it seemed super weird/formal. I dunno, even unnecessary.

You can say that because of the people that cam long before you and got their heads banged up bu cops and hired "security'

That could be true..

The original idea of the union was to provide a safe environment for workers, and to protect them from overly-greedy business owners.

That was an end result. The GOAL was often first the actual right to FREE SPEECH, the RIGHT TO ASSEMBLE and PETITION for REDRESS of GRIEVANCES, without be summarily and illegally arrested, jailed without charge, blacklisted, extorted, murdered, and a big one THE RIGHT TO VOTE...

The founders did not grant that to scum like those that did not own property "with an income of substance from land owned' They meant 100 Pounds icome from land---or about 400% of the average wage in the era. Scum like 99% of us.

Now there's been a role-reversal. The unions are going WAY overboard, and it's the business-owners that need protecting now.

Bullshit....Not only are corporate profits high, they have been sitting on cash reserves, much of it thanks to their bought and paid for Legislators who , when they had brought the financial system of this country within hours of total collapse and then whined and said "we", the people crawling along at same wages as 35+ years ago, better give them a trillion dollar...they have been sitting on enormous cash reserves, and buying back the public traded stocks and returning business to "private ownership" for which there is less scrutiny..

IF---and this is not the case "Unions were so strong and the "businesses' needed protection, why are profits so high, why are wages stagnant for working class people for 35+ years---despite massive increases in worker productivity...(think what an indexable carbide/ceramic insert in a CNC lathe has brought about in increased productivity.. oh maybe only 10-12 times or more. since the days of HSS tools.
But wages stead or declined (by about 27%)

Yep, to anybody that pays some lobbyist to suck the cock..

Koch-suckers maybe we should call many...

I'm talking more about the trade unions and the smaller companies that all these guys work for. Not the guys working for BP, etc. IE: Trying to strong-arm the guys with small bars/restaurants/etc that are working on their buildings themselves. That's ridiculous.

Yeah, I agree with you there, it's that mentality that made me "not a union guy" till I worked in Sweden and saw Germany and France, and the standard of living, education, health care , everything---different systems but one thing in common, it was the POLITICAL branches of their Labor movements that made those countries into modern countries for all.

(Don't know if you know it but the Socialsist and Social Democratic type parties aren't "Parties" just evolved from whatever, they are the branch of the Labor Movements--the Unions ---dealing with shaping POLICY...)

I lived in Naples Italy in the early /mid 50s, we went to Southern Germany on holiday---and it was blown to rat-shit.... (think of the devastation in France on which major portions of 2 World Wars had been fought, the huger by multiples destruction in Germany......how poor Sweden was in the 30s and 40s and early 50s---..
And then I immigrated at 17---what a change!
And by early 80s---a powerhouse..and a fair powerhouse...EVERBODY doing pat least pretty well...

That was from Unions and Capitalists and Government working together, each conceding some power..
Look up "Mitbestimmung" or "medbestammade" if you're not familiar..

Maybe the assholes hassling the guy know they're getting fucked so royally they feel they gotta take it out on somebody...

Maybe they're just dumb fucks...Notice I said up there Education...it was always a cornerstone in the Union movement elsewhere.. Can't be too class conscious with no education...Alas the working class in America is the most ignorant I've encountered, and not surprisingly being ignorant--the most conservative. relative to any others I've known..
