Hey...
I bought this um, over 20 years ago... it's in my parents barn. Was for a flat-track project that was never finished. I think it's a 400cc, but that's as close as I know. Any thoughts on what it is? 
Going to post it for pick up (free, or cheap) but would like to at least be able to say what it is... Cheers. |

Most definitely an XS650 yamaha twin. The 400s had a different head and case design. I've never ridden a flat track bike with a twin, but I've seen a lot of guys use those motors. They sound great with straight pipes

I agree. Maybe I can find a photo of a VERY hung over me on some Swede's sidecar rig at their 1st International event, my 10th or 12th.....powered by a waaaay bad ass version, likle bored, stroked, BAAAAAaaaaD... Look around the lower part of the cylinders, usually theres a cast in thang saying the actual capacity liler "648ccm" And reliable as hell.
