Parianoid bullshit if I ever read it.

- The area was in a 'state of emergency'
- RCMP had to enter homes if they didn't have confirmation the occupants had evacuated
- Improperly stored guns and ammo were secured
(unrestricted firearms (long guns) need to be stored either with a trigger lock or in a gun safe, restricted firearms (handguns) need both.)
(both seize and confiscate are inaccurate and 'loaded' words)
- The guns are being returned to the owners
- I haven't heard ANYTHING about charges being laid for unsafe storage of firearms.

The people in High River have been devastated but who-ever is fanning these flames isn't helping things at all.

So you noticed the somewhat inflammatory tone of the article also?

How are things going up there? Seems to have dropped off the news down here.

Things are getting back to normal for some.

Downtown is reasonably functional, from what I see, and the areas that were flooded are still recovering. Estimates are it'll take 10 years to fully deal with the issues from this.

High River is royally fucked. Some areas still not open to residents, damage is unbeleivable, the mayor relinquished control of operations to the province.

Worst in all of this is there isn't ANY overland flood insurance. Thankfully, declaring a 'state of emergency' opens the doors to federal and provincial support funding - not that it will even be close to the losses.
