You know what I find amazing when reading all this crap about bad blood and outta control egos and 3-4 entities administering the sport..ad ministering a sport which had 320 or so discreet entries last year.....
All this brouh-ha-ha to administer the sport for 320 people. Less than 1 in a million and all this pissing in each corner and just plain bullshit... Separate no organisation can stand......they all depend on organisers, and organisers all depend on volunteers and ultimately on the crazies who build and enter cars.... It simply isn't big enough to justify all this shit which is really ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! No sane individual gives a shit about all the behind the scenes bullshit, they just want predictable, stable, affordable chance to go nuts on closed , safe roads... I dunno, I think the biggest problem is a fight for imagined status, and the idea of "THE SERIES!"..... I posit that it is the worthless idea of STATUS assciated with THE SERIES is the major problem.. Fuck the series, it is meaningless. Up "the local event". I agree. It just sounds like someone trying to have control or grab power who can't grab more power than over 3 entrants to a sport no one cares about.
And she's not the only one. Lot's af self serving argogance out there. And for what? "I’m releasing you all to a garbage barge where you will bare-knuckle-box until one of you emerges as king of your floating hell." Tim. |

Yeap and I'm not just ragging on one.. I use the word for these Sanctioning bodies "administer" and since I know language better than I know anything I look at the etymology of the word "to minister" and its kind of thought provoking if you reflect a bit.. Lookee: minister (verb.) Look up minister at Dictionary.com early 14c., "to perform religious rites, provide religious services;" mid-14c., "to serve (food or drink);" late 14c. "render service or aid," from Old French menistrer "to serve, be of service, administer, attend, wait on," and directly from Latin ministrare "to serve, attend, wait upon" (see minister (n.)). Related: Ministered; ministering. minister (n.) Look up minister at Dictionary.com c.1300, "one who acts upon the authority of another," from Old French menistre "servant, valet, member of a household staff, administrator, musician, minstrel" (12c.), from Latin minister (genitive ministri) "inferior, servant, priest's assistant" (in Medieval Latin, "priest" ![]() See? I didn't notice anywhere anything at all about "running the (in this case) sport" or "Leading or guiding" Maybe that's where I got the idea that they are in the broader view, minor figures, MINIsters.....and where I have always found their inventing problems---which they think are important---to be beyond their ambit--- cf ambit, the space surrounding a building. Maybe that's why when SCCA hired the guy Spitzner as a "media relations" guy and he immediately began churning out a series of brilliant "visions" to totally revamp "The Series" I thought he was out of his area of expertise and as nobody did anything and he usurped control of the series, why I thought he was an arrogant megalomaniac.......And for our good friends above the 49th Parallel (<-----The 49th Parallel is a absolutely great WWII Britsh movie---everybody should watch it) why I find it so shocking and outrageous when they have some "activist" Media and promotions guy who seems to think his job is to ruin the series with idiotic ideas. And for that matter what the current debacle with RallyAmericar where Daddy Fogg seems to believe whatever Foggy Jr learned in some Public Relations 120 classes in some Lib'ral Arts college that the CENTRAL thing they should be doing is selling videos Foggy Jr is going to make... I though their job was to do basically clerking type junk: disburse licences, print rule books and mail junk...etc.. Not fuck with everything... (Definitely deferring to your experience here, but ![]() Seems like 200 stage marshals might not be enough for a WRC event? Especially one with a 60km stage? Also, watched a bit of the BBC coverage of Wales last year, and they had a segment where they talked about the stage crews etc. - they talked to one stage captain, who IIRC said they had >200 people for that individual stage. ![]() ![]() http://www.utahrallygroup.com |

As we pretty much already know, USAC & Kevin Miller are going to save rally...
now, you can listen to 8 minutes of him not really answering (IMO) how: http://www.bybillwood.com/online/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4094:kevin-miller-on-usacs-rally-efforts-in-the-us&catid=54:ths-radio&Itemid=106 (Now, I wasn't paying super-close attention, and the wind noise was a little bothersome, but I really didn't get much out of that other than "yousack thinks rally racing is really cool".) ![]() ![]() http://www.utahrallygroup.com |
