TV will save rally.
Subaru will save rally. Kurt Spitzner will save rally. Bringing in drivers from Europe will save rally. Doug Havir will save rally. More stupid rules will save rally. Higher entry fees will save rally. Oh... wait! All that shit has been tried. Better to repeat the past 17 year cluster fuck and expect a better result. Bah humbug. |

Yeah if it wasn't... Oh we both forgot Short sprint events with massive amounts of service is goona save rally...ignore the entries numbers going down steadily as the endurance aspect has declined. And 2 pass recce and detailed notes so the field can average 50mph---virtually the same average speed as we did in first couple of events 30 years ago---is going to save rally. John, lets get one thing straight, you seem cereal about this. What are you exactly wanting to see. To me rally for the US doesn't look to be in a bad situation. Like it has been stated before the distance between each rally is ridiculous as compared to europe. But I doubt we can go around shrinking the US. There are 720 million people in europe and 320 million in the US.
3.931 million sq miles Europe 3.794 million sq miles USA So when you have twice the people in about the same amount of space you can't really expect the same results. I will agree with one thing, the time I have seen non rally people get interested in rally is when Hero stories are told. That is the thing that connects non rally people into rally. Stories of battles, stories of winning as under dog. I am still confused as to what the goal is. To save rally? Are there rallies to go to, yes. Can you get your car to dorifto on the dirt, yes. Is someone paying you to do it, no. Do most rally drivers have to pay there way, yes. Bringing european guys over here to kick our asses won't help any. Taking our american butts and kicking some european tail will help. Bringing WRC will help, but only one part of the country that will be able to attend. Also I don't see why more ruling's wouldn't help. Slow the top guys down so they don't wreck as much (2.0 Liter motors) and bring the field closer together. It is kind of annoying to see 2 min gaps in the standings as opposed to a battle of swapping out for the lead. It's not about penalizing anyone, its about bringing the field closer together. also who wants to go drive 4 hours and go sit at this corner and watch several people screw up a hairpin. I sure don't. Please go practice your hairpins, its called ralycross and it will save rally ![]()

Rally is not a spectator sport. The past few decades of sucking up to spectators is the root of the problem. If people want to spectate they should go to a road race or better yet NASCAR roundy/round where they can see all the cars all the time. |

Cereal - Pertaining to grain or the grasses which produce it. Try to spend a little bit of time and find and spell the correct word for a change, I don't think you're referencing Johns Frosted Flakes (although John does some times get frosted!). Don Kennedy |

How? Why? I dare you to go for your next real job interview (anywhere other than a fast food joint) and have that word used, as you use it, in your resume. Call me a grammar Nazi all you want. Oh, and also try using all lower case, no upper case and no punctuation in your resume. And don't give me any crap about "it's just the internet". Practice good habits here and they'll follow you everywhere. Practice bad habits here and they'll follow you everywhere. Guess what. I just used a dictionary to verify a word I used above because I wanted to spell it correctly. Know what a dictionary is? Don Kennedy |

The choice for the girlies is Crice Rispies, Flakie-wakes, Toasty-o or Quaker-Oafs. But me, nothing--tea. Gotta lose 30-35lbs. 15 off so far. One word clearly wrong is nothing. even a missing word is still seldom a big deal IN THIS CONTEXT... There's something called logic and often logically there can be only one word that makes sense... Since dialog is actually a highly cooperative process---ie we all grant certain basic assumptions to others (until like some we understand clearly that they don't do the same and are writing just to be pricks) so we kinda go along... And fill in the blanks--or self correct...and at most play around with the mstake and have a laugh TOGETHER. No biggie. ![]() John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Pacific Standard Time is 3 hours behind Eastern Standard Time. |
