44 pages later and we finally have something that will save rally!

In all seriousness, this is Brooks Freehill. The same Brooks that used to have the Thule Jetta 10 years ago that did the huge jump at Rim of the World super special. He stopped rallying and started doing cheap enduro stuff a few years back. Last year he built a BMW for Chumpcar, did a few Chump races with it then did a few hill climbs and this year ran Rally Idaho with the BMW. The Gremlin is his Lemons car that he decided to do a hill climb with.
It doesn't take a whole lot of added cage to make a car that can run multiple types of events.

i love that gremlin!

what will help save rallying is, lowering the cost!

it seems most folks go to other forms of motoursport do to cost.

I think that many do. It's easy to think about those people.

But on the flip side, how many people have come to the sport of rally from something cheaper?

I'd say it's almost a wash and maybe even go as far as saying that people that love motorsport will always do motorsport in some fashion, regardless of the level or committment. (See footnote on uber-volunteers who are past rally competitors).

It's like getting tired of skydiving so going to the indoor skydiving instead.

Or I build a rally car and run it for a while/several years. Then when I can only afford to run 1 rally a year, I hillclimb or time trial or HPDE it. And I work 2 or 3 rallies a year to help keep the sport I love alive. BTDT.

Rally. You might only be able to visit Europe a couple times a year, but that's still better than 4-6 trips to Six Flags.
