Well, finally. Like I said, restrictors and tires. The exact amount of difference will be interesting to measure. http://rally-america.com/RuleBulletin/Rule_Bulletin_2014_008.pdf Oblig: New restrictor sizes and tire limits will save rally! Anders Grassroots rally. It's what I think about. |

i mostly like that , and 1 more reason to stay open light.. lmao
![]() I think they should have tied it into National competitors though. If some how a regional competitor hits a 95 speed factor they would have to switch to the 33 restrictor. i do really like the idea behind a national open, and regional open class |

Anders predicting the future will save rally? Edit- Oh yea, and screw restrictors. Just run friggin' pump gas already. THAT will cause competitor costs to go down massively. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/20/2014 05:11PM by HiTempguy. |

33mm won't hurt a 1.6 as much as 34mm hurts a 2,0......as we have seen so clearly in the Dubya Arsey. And 14 tires?? Should have made it 10 max in milage is 130 Less for shorter events. No, just that you can't run all four on a single master circuit. For example, Subaru is a dual circuit single master so stock is still fine. My favorite is this one: Rationale: This change is being introduced to eliminate the risk that the tank storing boost may become a bomb should the rally vehicle catch fire. I wasn't aware that compressed atmospheric air could explode under heat. Grant Hughes |

Doesn't this part of the rule specify otherwise? |

As a person who does this for my hobby, please don't change the restrictor. I've been running the same tune for 10 years and have no reason to change it, I have enough power to get myself in trouble now as is. I don't need that expense. Limit tires, add weight, mandate pump gas (which I'm running) first. Don Kennedy |

Most of us were not aware that Glycol/water mix was likely to ass-plode, but they banned coolant lines inside.. Or that water itself could be a nuke-ular bomb waiting to level a city, but no water tanks in passenger compartment because of danger! We're all gonna die unless they save us all! I read that as the same way. It seems that the ONLY way to meet the rule is dual masters w/ separate reservoirs. |

Lots of master cylinders have a common divided reservoir, probably the vast majority actually.
Nice to see a move to accept responsibility at the top rather than passing the blame onto organizers all the time. The restrictor rule only affects factors 95 and above running in Open. Ethylene glycol is flammable, coolant at 180* plus might be hazardous , compressed air when super heated can cause an 'explosion ' of sorts. |

Whenever the coven gets together and talks about fuel (be it spec, or pump, or unicorn tears) it certainly isn't the 'big boys' that halt the conversation of changing or restricting fuel. It's the privateers who are running race fuel (a significant number up here) et les équipes qui se mélangent gaz de la pompe et du gaz de la course. (common in Ontario, apparently, no matter how ineffective it is.) With a significant number of the middle of the pack on race fuel, a move to pump gas would almost certainly mean engine builds for every car out there. Yes, it's a cost that would be recovered over a season or two in saved fuel costs. (probably $200/event, so 5 events for a junkyard refresh?) But, the reality is that most people would sell the car or skip events. Competitors skipping events won't save rally. Almost certainly fallout from Nick Roberts' fire. Of course you're smart enough to realise it isn't actually the air exploding but the vessel containing the air rupturing violently. Their wording certainly does betray a passion for the dramatic.
