That Czech video probably cost more than eight grand to produce.

John, concentrate on promoting your work, not criticizing other people (even if you're right).

Minding your own business will save rally!

I am concentrating on that...these comments on other things are just throw away comments, just like everybody makes, just like this guy McConte makes behind peoples back....which since that is the more "normal" way in some cultures, oddly passes with no admonishments from anybody..

Still butthurt about me mentioning to someone they might be on the phone with you for 3 hours?

I wouldn't say butthurt, but still think you are --well, actually, much like many people... you'll talk shit about people and things behind their backs and still expect to be treated "with respect"..
And that cultural expectation is more pronounced in some areas---and some classes..than others.
Given the chance, I prefer not to associate any more than needed with that kind of person.

I was wondering about this but didn't want to comment, but now i'm too curious.

Did Monte call you out online , on this or the other forum?

or did he tease you about long phone calls, in a PM, or to a person and it got back to you?

If he wrote something online, that can not be considered "behind your back" , and you are actually good with reading/writing compression so i can only imagine it was actually behind your back. IE said to an other rallyist and it got back to you.

?? so spill the beans!

just to add to this thread from what I have learned is this. Which is something you all know is people looking to get into rally think that it's all about value.

They think that 3,000 dollars to do a rally, I will probably do 10 rallies in my car so 30,000 dollar rally car.

When I told friends I was spending the same on a rally car as I would an entry fee they all called me dumb and said that was dumb. But now I will have more money for entries. Which what everyone doesn't know is that you can get 80% of the grins with 20% of the work. Meaning I can spend 20% of the money the rich people do and get 80% of the excitement.

Of course you all know that, but I just wanted to type it on the interwebs to remind myself later.

What is funny as well is when I went to Decatur rallycross there was this family of guys, 3 of them. They had probably spent 20,000$ on rally school per each person. And they had done two stage rallies. They also brought a brand new mitsu evo. Granted their first time out in the AWD car but in my defense I get to drive rallycross maybe twice a year and have only done it for say 3 years in different cars. I ended up placing 2nd in the class. Not saying I am amazing. I am saying that for a fraction of the money I was having a much better time. I don't really know how you would tell a rich person with money to do things in moderation.

IE cheaper car = more rally = more fun
expensive car = less rally = less fun

by the way i agree with john, buying likes on facebook is a waste of rally money, and so is buying a lambo to please the spectators

I would rather see a guy in a beat up subaru at 100% than a lambo at 50%

I am not an alien

Koolaid on specialstage just an FYI

Time will tell but there is a good chance this Lambo idea works out for Brakim. He is not and probably will not ever be as good or as fast as Higgins. He will get tons of pr and thousands of likes across the world. Now a days this turns into dollars. No 5k likes wont get you 100k in sponsor dollars. But what does a million likes get you? If its You tube you get paid for a million likes. I agree this is a big chance but if it pays off he will be at every event he wants to run with out spending any of his money. This is a win for him. Plus a 2900lb 500hp unrestricked could turn out to be a super fast rally car!

The thing that blows me away is when someone says, "I wish I could race cars, but it's too expensive." Then they get into a 30-40k+ daily driver.

Don't read too much into that comment, it's just Johnny being fragile and whiney.
We all need to remember, from time to time, that Johnny is delicate and doesn't play well with others, particularly those who don't play to his dynamic rules or 'let him win.'

I laughed at his comment "...you'll talk shit about people and things behind their backs and still expect to be treated "with respect" particularly in context of me losing count of the times he's said "I was talking to someone the other day and they said you were ... blah, blah, blah."

(For the record, when people start talking shit about John around me I'm actually generally quick to defend him. Ask anyone.)

From what I can tell, Johnny's first beef with me was that I told someone looking to buy some of his suspension that they should talk with people who have done business with him before making that decision. The same advice I give for CanJam, Rocket, 4Star, etc. Somehow that was seen as badmouthing him and talking behind his back.

But wut-eva

Correcting people on the interwebz will save rally.

This drives me crazy. I'd rather not DD a F150, but It's my tow vehicle. I can't afford to race, just bought a 2014 STI.... wtf.

I think my biggest disappointment with Easier Said Than Done was that the only theme was that rally is really expensive.

I recently had an interesting conversation with someone who I think is a relatively important individual in the Canadian rally scene.

The topic was "do we deserve to rally for the price we pay?"

If Rally America is any indication, rallying is quickly becoming an even RICHER mans sport than it already has been to date. While I don't agree with the idea that rallying should naturally cater to the more well off, that is because I don't fit that group of people, and the moment I am volunteering to help people who earn 6 figures a year run around in the forest is the moment I jump off a cliff!

The guy saying he wishes he could race and climbs into his 40k car isnt a true racer and we wont get them any way.

The person you know has a decent job who drives a beeter to work or a tow vehicle is the guy we should try to get to more events!
