how am I supposed to guess what people who make up phrases mean?
Funny thing is... there is an obvious and easy answer to this.
Context.
Paying attention to where and how a made up phrase is being used will usually get you in the ballpark of intended meaning. Not exactly rocket surgery.

At your age you still haven't learned how assuming what people means* is the road to perdition..

Since there are a bazillion of those vids with those guys crashing on the same corners I'd guess that
A: They all seem to be in 'farm' land and not with a 200ft exposure.
B: They know the roads, probably like everyone here knows Brooklyn
C: They know the car, that is a huge benefit
D: They have a huge support group
E: There is an absolute maximum speed for every corner (tarmac or gravel)
F: There is a different absolute maximum speed for every driver/corner/car combination
G: Gravity trumps enthusiasm every time
H: Mt Hood.. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mt-Hood-Rally/304993135471 and http://www.rallydata.com/Entries_ColdFusion/EntryList_RallyAmerica.cfm?CFID=82509742&CFTOKEN=66496748 not a mention on Anarchy or SS.. how can you save a sport that doesn't want to be saved??

PS..the fast car on the entry list (Decker) started life as a 2wd FWD 1.8 Sube built by yours truly, then was a FWD 2.2 done by Barret Dash, then eventually a Sti conversion and a top finishing car at regional or national events. More than one way to skin a cat.

It isn't at all a bad idea to have an extra shell..caged shell even better. IF two or three guys with the same or similar platforms split the cost of building just a shell it is very doable. Whoever needs it buys the other two out. Swap the drivetrain and Sooper Bitchin suspenders and go. Could be done by a few guys in a weekend easily, maybe a long night if enough people helped. Or buy another whole suspension and use it for spares as needed. Lots of ways to keep things going. OUR problem is the distance between ralliests, rallies and of course car platforms. That is what it is and the constant focusing and complaining won't change that.

Our local dirt track (one the most popular motorsports in the US) has guys who like to help each other and of course guys who wouldn't share a beer. I'm guessing Jeff sees that back there. People can be overly competitive and miss the whole comradery aspect of things. I suspect the Finnish rally community is a close comparative to the Saturday night dirt tracks over here. Different worlds, same passion.

Well friend, we have different definitions of what driving in a stage tally means then..

Really depends on the road, doesn't it?
He wasn't the slowest car out there.
At the end of the day is it better to be out on the stages having fun or sitting at home saying how fast you once were?

Since you are the fount of all knowledge, explain how it is better to be out not even trying than anything else?

Because the only way to drive just a squeak above TSD speed is NOT EVEN TRYING

Who benefits from NOT EVEN TRYING?

The organisaers get an extra entry... but who else.

Maybe like most Americans--you often seem stupid enough to be an American---they are world famous for being stupid, loud and wrong and annoying whiners---
-maybe you believe everything that everybody does deserves a big silver or gold STAR....is that it?

I don't understnad how they do it, or why they do it , I don't understand the whole point.. so you explain who is benefitting.

I haven't said this lately but John, you're being an asshole..again. If you look at the results from RRN above it indicates that you were in that 40mph average I believe...several years into your illustrious rally career. I'm not sure why you feel that everyone owes you an explanation for their car choice, sanctioning body choice or motivation. How in the hell did you become so fawking important?

Andrew built or bought a car, spent time and money, entered LSPR, FINISHED LSPR and was one of 3 BSpec cars on the list. A list that contained not one Volvo or Merkur btw and only one RWD car out of 50 some entries that I saw. This constant lack of respect and verbal abuse of the people involved in the sport today is unwarranted and unwelcome.

The constant haranguing of INVOLVED people has to be a contributing factor in the decline of forums and the increase of Facebook rally community. You just keep posting your myopic shit until others just shut up and usually go away, that doesn't mean you are right in the least, just too stupid (and I know you're not stupid) to see the damage you cause.

You have a lot to offer some people but you don't have everything to offer everyone. I truly wish you would just step back and look at things .

If you read this in the proper context....it isn't an attack of any sorts, just a plea. You're like a mean drunk who doesn't see or care about the outfall of his actions.

You won't however see anything other than a challenge to your bizarre ideals and rhetoric. Oh well.
