Rally Car:
93 GC with an 01 RS swap!

I think its very important to get new drivers into rally.

If 50% leave after 1-3 events, well then 50% of them Stay 4+

even if they leave , they may volunteer in the future, or spread the world of rally.

----

I still think they should be given long term advice .. nothing that will ruin them if they walk away after 2 events, but advice geared more towards long term approach.

the 2 are not mutually exclusive by the way. Borrowing different style hans devices before you buy one is doubly smart. if you leave after 2 events you didn't buy one. but even if you stay for 200 rallies , what if the first hans device you try out, you hate ?

driving your car To and from 1 event. its still a car why not? Yes please reserve a U-hual truck and trailer ahead of time and know when your cancel by time is.. even with a DNF Rate of 33%
and doing 3 rallies you should come out ahead, just driving there and U-hauling back when needed.

Race before you upgrade / 1 upgrade at a time (or 1 system at a time) .. this slows down the rate you will throw money at your car, but also , helps you to (hopefully) start thinking more about your upgrades.. Wish i did this one...

BUDGET / BUDGET / BUDGET ... plan out a budget and have some idea what you are doing ..
that was one of my biggest failures. i never had a budget.. worked out fine until i started buying upgrades , and merged finances with my navigator.

ROI !! really not the right wording. Smiles Per Dollar ..
evaluate everything you are gonna do (or not do) in the SPD scale

Safety
Reliability
More Events
more fun (more drifting? quicker? higher top speed? winning more? )

maybe focus only on the fun factor for the new drivers. what are they liking? what are they not liking?

Actually treating the 2WD class as a legitimate class of its own and not just a step up to AWD will save rally.

What's going to save rally for me is selling my P4wd Eclipse and move to Rwd, I found that the amount of non fun and stress I was having was in danger of pushing me away from rallying. I took stock of why I am doing it, fun, that is why I've been doing it on and off since the late 80's and I wasn't having fun. I miss the stupid grin and fits of giggles I have with rwd. Am I going to gather a boat load of trophies, be all over the TV, no. Am I going to have a boat load of fun hell yeah, and that is what is going to save rally for me, going out and enjoying it not taking it too seriously after all it's a hobby.

Yes, it's a Ranger.
Xr4Ti, it is rwd and was made in Germany.

Beer and general shenanigens are always in order after a rally. A number of us were asked to leave the bar at Rocky as they wanted to close and go to bed.... lightweights I say! It was only 12.30 am..

Web hosting with more sophisticated email or open outbound network ports will save rally.

Grassroots rally. It's what I think about.

Hey, I think there might be some truth to that. Interweb can and will eventually be fairly amazing just like us humans. But, we just need to learn and learn and learn.... Just as You explained in the talk with Jace and crew.
Cheers!
