Denise is just kind of butting in and taking credit for everything, as usual. It is and will continue to be a problem I think. I heard she is not on the CRS board anymore, don't know if that is true or not. There is a problem with her scheduling her SW events on top of existing CRS events not to mention the 1/2 truths, over promises and way under perfoming she seems to specialize in.
Then there is stuff like this : http://www.weasel.com/weasel.html#denise Don't know who wrote it or its validity but someone is upset. |

I don't see what the problem is. Those events didn't want to sanction with RA and they wanted to continue. They also didn't want to sanction with NASA. Their only choices would be to self insure & go alone or create their own series and team up with a sanctioning body (USAC).
They also have low entry numbers so they are trying to get others (desert racers) to cross over and prop up entries. I applaud them for trying something new (just like when NASA started to let bikes in). |

When we get lots of bikes (over 30) we start them on 30 second intervals. Since (to their point of view) they're on a six lane road, passing isn't an issue, and dust is much much less given the tires, contact patch, and aerodynamics (no underbody).
They don't have many other venues where they can go _this fast_. (At least, not on the east coast.) A zillion places to go to a $35 hare scramble where they're in first gear all day. The reason bikes start first is that bikes are very quick to clean off the course. No wrecker, no towing, no big trucks... two guys can push the bike clear of the course and you're off in less than a minute. Doing it the reverse, cars then bikes (which we have done) was a nightmare: you are now pushing the sweeps to hurry pulling out cars, and the course is still "hot" behind them. It gets colder and colder, then you need to re-zero, and that becomes a safety issue.
Yup, it's true. But it's more fun to do 33% more rally than to have an extra 20 minutes of sitting on your rump waiting for something to happen. ![]() Plus, those bike guys are nutters. Love 'em. ![]() Anders Grassroots rally. It's what I think about. |

Whew. Good thing I abandoned the idea for a Western Championship made up of 3 to 5 of the best west coast events. What do we have now. PNWC, Cascadia Cup, CRS, USAC West, and ??? Gotta give USAC one thing to their credit. They are motivated. They came out of nowhere with sanctioning Olympus and then picked up Rally America then picked up a large handful of the other west coast events. Too bad they're mostly events that no one cares much about. 2012 Entry Numbers: Desert Storm: 12 Arizona eXtreme: 4 Mendocino: 12 (needs mileage, roads look AWESOME) Seed 9: 13 CRS Support: HDT - 24 Idaho - 39 Mendocino: 12 (needs mileage, roads look AWESOME) Gorman - 16 Prescott - 19 Interesting that Mendo is included in both series. I'm interested in what USAC brings to the table that NASA doesn't provide. Grant Hughes |

If its anything like USAC's involvement with PPIHC, it'll mean obsoleteing safety gear before the manufacturers do...and flexible interpretations of whatever strange rules actually make it into the rule books. Dave p.s. I have zero knowledge on if USAC has any say on PP's rule book...but "at the discretion of the organizer" appears far too many times in the PP book and they do not currently recognize an FIA belt's legality for 5 years, they've limited it to just 2 years. |

I was wrong, apparently "The Legend" John Hall will save rallying in Canada...
Except I think (THINK) Keith was kidding, as John was (or he left directly after) in vacation in Mexico. Maybe he has a surprise waiting for him when he gets home... or maybe Keith grew a funny bone. Who knows, as nothing has been posted from the AGM yet and I'm impatient as hell. Not that it matters, as it certainly won't be ME that saves Canadian rallying ![]() |
