I'm not sure if it's codified in the R-A rules, or the event supps, or what, but 99% there's a penalty levied for hitting the chicanes. At Colorado it was something like 1 minute per cone. Allegedly, after Pastrana mowed a bunch down in 2009, he said "I'm going to make back that time, or crash out trying", and SRTUSA said "nu-uh" and he didn't race the next day.  KF7RWG
