Um - no practically about it. The chase for a WRC event killed two events a little over a decade ago. Lessons were learned and things would be done differently next time, if there is a next time.

I thought you were gone from here? :p Always good to have someone around to correct me. winking smiley

Nobody really talks about it, so the only snippets I've gotten have been from you, a looooooong time ago when we discussed it.

Dramatic music and 2 and half minute videos that show a car for less than 30 seconds will save rally. I mean, look at that tree move back and forth and that guy running in slow-mo! Here come the sponsorships!

Stolen from the OTR thread.

looks like all those $$$$$ for "national" entry fees are going towards licensing dramatic music:

Seems like I last heard the fee for the FIA to 'observe' and event prior to approval was about $250k and that was several years ago. BS or true??

I talked a lot with the organizers of Rally Mexico the year we went down there. The owner of that rally invested ~$5 million in personal money just to get the FIA to come look at the event without a guarantee that they would get an event.

So lets set our sights at more reasonable levels. If every rally in the US had a $1 million a year budget from someone is the 1/2% before collecting entry fees or other sponsorship, I think that could save rally.

For Intermediate Weight Grease

Global RallyCross has chosen to make the best of a bad situation in Washington State and is announcing a late addition to the series. The Skagit River Global RallyCross will make use of the newly formed steel gap jump on Interstate 5.

"Red Bull is paying me half a million dollars to put their banner over the damaged trusses on the bridge if I can provide a spectacle," said GRC chair Halliburton O'Cash. "And if there is one thing steel-truss gap jumps bring, it's clicks on YouTube."

Ironically the cross over bridge in Barcelona collapsed with the skidder on it during construction.

I've long had the opinion of many of the small problems that events have to deal with that "Hey, nothin' ten grand wouldn't fix."

Looks like someone found ten grand. Rally is saved!

Electric power steering will save rally.....

Coz it's all about the fap fap fap........ which I suppose is loosely related to kinky sex.
And once that power assisted steering setup is installed it takes the strain off the arms whilst manouvering the car and frees up valuable arm time and energy for that all important fap fap fap action.

Coupled with pneumatic clutchless dog boxes and GPS enabled odos we won't need the driver or the co-driver. The ultimate in safe racing and you won't need to buy a HANS.
