(Oh, I'll try my best to make them rubber trees seeing you feckers need new tyres every couple of stages!)

Wish some of the trees I've hit were rubber! Get busy changing them over.

because here are two young people who have enthusiasm and interest and it's never fun to hear that your big idea might not work out, even more so after you've put some time in to the project.

Anders

I expect adults to act like adults, 26 isnt "young", and the whole premise behind their idea doesn't really cut the mustard. If they are reasonable people, they'll take the negative criticism and turn it into useful info..

If they are your average person, they'll probably lash out or give up and quit without ever having started. As was pointed out, RA probably doesnt take to plagiarism very well, and you are taught that kind of stuff when you are about the age of 12.

26 is so young it's barely distinguishable from 18 or in some special cases, of spoiled whiney little twerps, from 11 or 12.

not all 26 year olds sound ridiculously over-cocky, or are so unaware of their own extreme limitations in terms of life experiences....and I deal with a lot of young guys starting out.

Many are refreshingly grounded and realistic.

I am really interested to find a decent analysis on crowdfunding five years from now.

My predictions are that crowdfunding will disappear due to lack of delivery to the funders. Here is why...
Without investors, there is only self-impetus to fulfill the requirements. Sooner or later people that fund crowdfunding regularly will get burned on a project and stop funding them. Combined with an overuse for projects that rely on crowdfunding due to a poor business plan.

Giving free money to start ups is altruistic and somewhat stupid when there are plenty of businesses that want your money and will actually pay you to use your money. Shit, even your bank gives you a little bit back. Really smart and you can make lots of money.

In regards to Dusty Dimensions, I have worked out this business plan. $450k is not enough, especially considering the amount of development of vehicles, real estate, and construction projects they are talking about.
I had startup costs for first year around $500,000 before including insurance, attorney, accountant, real estate agent commissions, teacher salaries, taxes/permits, and probably a bunch of other surprise expenses.
I had around $10 per mile of use in vehicle maint. Add in $300 per day instructor, 350 per day fixed expenses (land lease, etc.) and up to $300 per day in track maintenance. Assuming renting grader bimonthly, $4k per month fixed, 12 school days per month, $150 per day per instructor, two instructors per day and a 1mile 3" depth gravel road. Let's say 10 miles of use per student day with two cars so that's fixed costs of $400+300+350+300 = $1350. So yeah, 4 students at $500 per person is $2000 in revenue or $650 X 12 X 12 = 93600 net revenue. But you likely need at least one full time employee with high level mechanic abilities for maintenance of facility so that will cost $50-75k. That leaves $20-30k in income minus 15.2% self employment minus health insurance minus minus minus...

Team O'Neil succeeded because niche market, first one, cheap land, knowledgable owner, and likely loads of personal wealth to get it up and running and lots of time on ground building business and relationships with corporate clients.

Dirtfish is a hobby business to have some fun, write off some losses on taxes, and be prepared with tons of land for future development and making millions from property development when Snoqualmie becomes a Seattle suburb owned by some rich guys. I'd be surprised if they have turned a profit.

We should crowdfund a replacement to Groupon for when it goes out of business in a few years also.

I thought I was going to get stabbed at the store yesterday when the self checkout machine required me to call the attendant who then neglected the other two machines that also stopped working at 6 pm (busiest hour at store). The look on the 20 or so people in line by time my machine was resolved (of course it's my fault since I have a buggy and a baby, nevermind that I only had eggs, milk, bread, and some avocados) was frightening. I almost wanted to stop and shout, "IF YOU THINK THIS IS BAD, RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE! EVENTUALLY IT"LL MAKE MORE SENSE TO ELIMINATE EVEN MORE EMPLOYEES AND ADD IN MORE MACHINES EVERYWHERE!"

You can order at a food place by our lab and the only interaction with a person is when they hand your food out the window.

Oh, don't I know the irony of my statement, humor intended winking smiley

To put down anyone's ideas or thoughts because of their age is just plain ridiculous though. To also use age as an excuse after the age of 18 is also ridiculous. It belittles a person based on a quality that has no meaning and marginalizes a group of people that has to deal with all the stupid crap you old geezers have passed the buck on down to us spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

That never make it on stage? Because they are bogged down in multi-year builds that somebody convinced them they could do? :p

I'd argue that the only reason you think they're grounded and realistic is that they drink only your koolaid winking smiley

Let's be honest, so far at least, They have gotten off EASY. One or two single sentence snarkys and the rest, I dare say have gone way out of their way to be nice and deferential. If they think they got hate...well... send them a link to fuel and air. They'll shit themselves. Even JVL was nice!

Look you don't do anyone any favor by patting them on the head and telling them they are a genius when they want to jump off the roof holding two turkey feathers. Especially when they want a free half mil to start their new starship pilot school.

Want to start a rally school? you need AT LEAST one of the following:
A World Championship (Petter, SEb the great, Seb the lessor, or at least more than a handful of wins, JML, Tommi, Marcus.

A metriccrapton of money, High 7 figures these days, to Hire one of the above or at least buy their name.

No, because they act and sound like adults instead of snotty spoiled punks who claim they've "done pretty much everything" because they've sat in a co-driver seat in a few small-time events.

And a little note for your oft repeated reference or hint that I have convinced them to spend multiple years building things..

I help them in whatever way I can...if they want to take time and spread out the costs--because they are buying houses and getting married and having kids and getting laid off and finding new jobs----or whatever,
that is their business.

I tell EVERY person I talk to to get a big hunk of wood or slate and carve in the words "A good Plan TODAY is better than a perfect plan tomorrow" and nail it to the wall at eye level.
I am not responsible if they don't listen and follow that maxim

I warn them of the "cooling off" effect or the 'wilting weenie" of dragging it out. I say "If you had a girlie friend that you couldn't fuck for 3 years, how long you think you can maintain a big stiffie?"

I stress the vital importance of PRACTICE and it is DRIVING PRACTICE I refer to..

If they don't listen, don't have the will to finish what they start, or get distracted by career, family, housing, or life

How is that my fault---which you and a couple of other cunts constantly imply?

How about the hundreds of others who HAVE gotten help and parts who have competed-- are all them my fault?

Whose fault is it that you're not driving at every event the last several years?

Silly child.
