GET REAL!!!
Lose the sanctioning bodies, the insurance companies, avenues of litigation and get away from the white collar paranoid bean counters who control everything using a simple formula: Profit vs. Loss Find private land thats owned by an off shore holding company that is not in a juristiction (Skye where the hell is my right click spell check on this POS forum?) [POS = Sarcasm!] where it can be subject to US litigation from competitors. Sign liability waivers from competitors, have numbered companies and get back to what used to be "Grass Roots Racing". Fuck HANS and all this other BS that these people want. Let me throw a 5 point harness, bolt in cage (or welded), triangles, first aid kit, red anti fire bottles and a few others things into any car I want and let me go racing. If I wanted to omit the cage and harness so be it… it's my life and my prerogative! |

In da UK........Having to cough up your hard earned cash to replace your seats and harnesses every 5 years (even if they have not been used) will save rally!!
You've got to admire the hypocrisy when the above does not apply to various other motorsport disciplines governed by the same sanctioning body.....I mean it is plainly obvious that competitors in sprints, hillclimbs, and circuit racing events don't have accidents where the seats and harnesses take any load unlike rallying. ![]() I tend to agree with Morten on all this BS. My helmet is no longer usable as the lining is only fire retardent. It now needs to be fireproof. Call me old fashioned but I would think by the time the inside of my helmet is on fire I would be beyond caring.......... Surely for the inside of my helmet to catch fire there would need to be a fire inside the car which the manadated fire extinguishers had not put out. This would mean a load of toxic smoke from the burning plastic dashboard........ Leading to a new rule requiring the manadatory wearing of BA sets. Disappointingly not yet a Jackass Edited 1 time(s). Ok, so do. If it's sooooo awesome, do it. If you're convinced there's a big enough market, do it.
Ok, so 30 seconds in to this exercise, you're already back to kowtowing to the insurance people and the law.
And 45 seconds in, you've come up with the rules, so now you're the sanctioning body. More of less rules and a new offshore sanctioning will save rally! ![]() Grassroots rally. It's what I think about. |

I wonder if they are going to have a champagne spray for 2wd. So far its 1 car, looks like the price of the nationals finally took a hit; at least on the 2wd guys. 1 oneil entry, last year he had like 4-6 per rally.

2 entries, Panos Karpidas has been running a TON fiesta for at least a season. No ACP or Greenhouse yet, I wouldn't count them out. 4 2wd national entries will save rally! I thought Cline was quitting rally because of you people? lol Dave Grenwis - DG Rally - www.dgrally.com |

As an organiser I don't have a problem with TBA entries, it really helps in the planning stages of an event. I'd rather have TBA entries coming in than having people just show up at registration with absolutely zero notice they were coming. The assumption that these are 'secrets' rather than just being truly 'unknowns' is a bit misplaced I think. Admittedly, I've seen scenarios were entries were kept secret for one reason or another and I rarely understand the need for that secrecy.
