What do you mean that doesn't narrow it down!!!

Probably because everyone is drunk at Idaho and everyone blames Anders.

all the more reason to send volunteers our way. They can drink and blame someone else for it. The internet said so.

How about a major motion picture about a normal guy, who buys a crappy car, puts a cage in it, and goes rally racing and has a great time?

Then send that movie all around the country with a huge advertising campaign?

THAT will save rally! (Ok, that's not true... but it looks like what I said earlier is: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118038421)

But really, I think this could actually be a big help.

I bet the BMW becomes and Sububitchi or a Mustang once Hollywood gets done with this.

It'll stay a BMW, but I'm curious to see how much of the REAL story gets told. Having gotten the lowdown directly from Ben, I'm betting the truly good stuff (not the Jalopnik version) doesn't get told.

Already the whole spin is spin to the max.
It is disingenuous to the extreme to even suggest that the entry was "competing against WRC pros" or whatever.

The class was an add-on novelty class run separately from the WRC/International event which are run under (absurdly) strict car build and car eligibility rules.

It is tantamount to saying that somebody tossing a Frisbee around in a parking lot at the Olympics is "competing against" the people in the Men's Final 1000m race---because both are 'competing" at the same geographical location...more or less at the same time.
It is disrespectful to the effort of those who did make the effort to build and enter the WRC event..

Not saying it wasn't a fun adventure, but man the BS has been shoveled deep.

I don't think they have the most important part of the equation for making a film worked out however. Financing.
They or at least Bill was astounded when I told him what we would build and run (bring to each event, service, etc) four rally cars for this project was.

Oh, I know that, John. Hell, we all know the whole thing is spin. I'm talking about the parts that wouldn't exactly paint our hero in a particularly good light among the masses. grinning smiley

Oh, and lest anyone think I'm taking shots at Bill, I'm not. I actually like Bill.

I'd guess that entertainment is right up with or near health care as far as revenue goes. Somewhere behind food, housing and clothing. Nothing a baseball player does is worth the salary, same with actors or musicians. "We" pay the freight to be entertained and Bill has provided a bunch of that. I hope it pans out for Bill and he benefits from his efforts.

I hope he pulls it off too. Might pave the way to future rally car projects.
Fast and Furious 7. Plot - International rally team recruits a new driver. Little does the driver know that the rallying is just a cover for a large scale drug ring...

Or my rally car horror/thriller story.

I like the slasher movie aspect Grant. AWD Imp tossing 1/2 shafts into a crowd of cheerleaders....big hairy drooly guy beating people to death with his HANS. Could almost be a docudrama actually.

Nah. It's more of a psycho thriller type of story. General storyline and some scenes are down. Writing the script will probably be a 2012 project.

I think that was a Speed Racer episode plot.
