You can get most of the advantage by just using stainless bolts... and you get almost none of the advantage WITH the gasket, if you DON'T use stainless bolts!
As far as clearance goes, I wonder why nobody just uses shorter injectors. There's some seriously short injectors around now... and they're fairly cheap, like $100 new for some nice 1700-2200cc/min injectors with fast response times and E85 friendly... might want to consider running E85 on that ten valve, needs all the octane help it can get! The stock column bearings were hosed, so I shortened a universal column from speedway. The quickener uses the lower section of the stock column housing to seal everything up from the elements. |

Justy exploits await! |

I finally found e85 nearby. It's on the list of to-do's, and short injectors are on wish list. On the stainless bolts, the new spacer actually came with phenoloic washers and long bolts. |

What the hell was I thinking! Dad snagged this as a parts car, turns out it's totally complete titled and doesn't have any bondo! Floor pans are shot, and the battery tray is rotten but all the panels are straight and the body doesn't appear to have any rot.
In some ways, not as bad as it looks, in other ways it's just as bad as it looks. Got the motor to bark, now going to pull it and spit the thing to replace floorpans and battery tray area. Going to upgrade the frame rails while I'm at it. Vroooom! Time to pack up and head to OTR. |
