Survived my first rally sprint! Had a great time and didn't break anything. All in all a great success.
I'll be competing in NEFR in just under 2 weeks so I'm working on a bunch of small prep stuff. Today I installed my wide-band o2 gauge and sensor. According to the sensor I'm running pretty rich. In low RPM it's pretty much pegging the gauge on the rich end, and gets up to about 11.5 from 3500-7000. Cruising its hovering around 12.5, idle is similar. Jetting: Main - 145 Emulsion Tube - F13 Idle Jet - 55 F8 (forgot to check the venturi's) The 145 is the smallest main jet I have at the moment, don't have any others for the idle or emulsion tube. I'm thinking maybe I need a smaller main and idle? Open to any thoughts or suggestions. |

Update, current choke/venturi is 36mm.
I have a 38mm which based off some reading may be a better fit? Might swap them out after work tonight and see what happens, along with new plugs as I'm sure the current ones are not doing their best with it running so rich.

Alright most of the jetting numbers:
Jetting: Venturi - 38 Aux Vent - 4.5 Main - 145 E-tube - f16 Air correction 155 Idle 55 f8 Changed the venturi from 36 to 38 tonight. Seemed to help a little bit, overall a/f is closer to 13 through most of the range. I put new plugs in although the old ones looked pretty good. I might try messing with the timing a little bit. Maybe a valve adjustment. The thing rips pretty good anyways so I'm not gonna experiment too much until after NEFR. |

Alright, not much time for an update. Ran NEFR. Made it through most of the event before going off into some small trees. Damage is limited to cosmetic and we drove it back on the trailer under it's own power. Lucky for getting away as clean as we did.
Now I'm on to BRS prep and one of the things that I would like to do is get some new struts/shocks. It has Bilstein B6's in there now. It appears there are a few options regarding valving and I know pairing them with spring rate is key. That's out of my area of experience so I'm hoping someone here can point me in a direction. (Paging J.V.) Ultimately I will replace it with something more robust, but for now with my budget/time-frame I would like to keep it simple. I calculated spring rates based on measuring wire, overall diameter, and effective coils. Front: 140lb Rear: 100lb B6 Options are: Front: 34-030806 - 305/206 34-030837 - 350/150 34-031520 - 300/175 34-181539 - 131/83 (according to google, oe replacement) Rear: 24-022118 - 275/200 33-067230 - 225/150 24-002967 - 225/107 (according to google, oe replacement) Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated. |

Here are some Bilstein rally struts for your Volvo:

And from another site, but also available rear rally rate springs and a threaded coil over strut housing for the front inserts. https://www.motorsportshop.nu/epages/motorsportshop_nu.sf/sv_SE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/motorsportshop.nu/Products/B46Volvo240

Those are great links..if this was 1995. But still thatäs great++only nearly double what those would cost if sourced here in US. And GREAT.. insats like that..´short lifespan.. There IS a reason why people use thick wll 4130 DOM for the tubes... John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember!
