Culbertson once again you need to learn that you don't know everything..You think you are unusally smart..And you blather on about what is the spending of other people's money with abandon. And yet you don't even build and run a car of your own.. Now since you know everything and can do everything better than everybody else, why don't you run your own car to victory after victory? It was Janne Sellholm himself who told me why just dropping the inserts into the OEM tubes ends in bent inserts..the stock tubes flex like noodles.. But I'm sure you know that because you know everything.. But because you know that because you know everything, why would you post that you think its a great idea to spend money on things you know are going to fail.. Oh that's right!! I forgot! it's not your money so you don't give a shit. Why don't you call Sellholm? He's seemed like a friendly and helpful enough guy when I've spoken with him....I imagine he speaks English...not 100% sure, but then you could tell him there's no reason to make the nicer stuff he's making.. Nope, but you sure seem to miss the point when ever it comes to spending other people's money wisely... And never have an ounce of self doubt... That shows to me a self-confidence based on something way beyond reasonable in light of your actions and experience. "Wisely" is completely subjective. Most decisions are not made by me, but the owners of the vehicles. I can recommend something, but ultimately it's their decision. There is definitely discussion about options, where the pros and cons are weighed. Self doubt: I have plenty. The decisions made are hardly mine alone. I hafta side with John - a bit - on this one.
Spending less money on something that WILL get replaced sooner rather than later vs. paying up front now for something that will last significantly longer is very much a false economy. However, counselling someone to spend more now, and less in the long run often falls on deaf ears because budget is always king. But, I also hafta side with Robert - kinda - on this one. Sometimes going for budget bits will save a build from becoming a garage queen and never making it to the stages. Here you go John - 50mm and cheaper than yours - https://www.motorsportshop.nu/epages/motorsportshop_nu.sf/sv_SE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/motorsportshop.nu/Products/100027-1/SubProducts/100027-1L
And the 40mm, which were great according to you until recently, and certainly cost effective are even cheaper. Group 4 Escort are 40mm, so don't be a curmudgeon. "Talk about drugs. That link for the 50s is USD904 per side, or $1808 for just fronts. Add a couple of hundred more for a complete car set.. Add freight just for fronts from there probably another $400. Or more.. Freight or DHL out of Sweden is a lot more than from here outbound. I sent a set of my 50s to OZ and it was by USPS--by far the cheapest...and it was $300 US...and yet, for some reason, the guy came to me. And then there is the inevitable need for spares..... And that the spring seats are made for 65mm ID springs....not easy to find 3 inch--3" springs which will not rub the threads off the tube when they squirm..... But you know what? Fuck it...Fuck this and fuck this alt-knowledge... Every kid with a keyboard is an expert, even when they've never driven even one whole rally in the whole lives--or maybe driven 4 in 15 years.. Its only somebody else's money, and they don't care. John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Lolz. The last header I brought over from KL Racing was $265 to my front door. The 24inx24inx18in box packed with control arms was $110 in shipping. |
Unless JVL says it is true, you must be lying. Because reasons and stuff ![]() Seems like the recommendation is reasonable if looking for something inexpensive. Isn't it always JVL that is screeching to just get out on stage and rally and not spend money? Talk about mixed messages ![]() |
