It's too easy. 2,0 Crank at 90mm, bore a 2,6 block from 91,1 to 92mm gives you like 2392cc and 92 x 90 with moderate lift cams it's non-interference. Flat tops are available in forged at 92mm for non customs, bigger gotta go custom. The motors share the same block deck height and same rods, so when using the 2,0 crank, you use pistons with the 2,0 compression height. It really is nice when it's all fresh. Yeah, like JVL said.
You can even save your OEM short block as it is. Just get another 2.6L (G54b) block from a D50 or a Starion (really, really cheap) and destroke that one. JVL can source some really cheap forged pistons for you that will give you about 8.1 compression. Your existing head, flywheel, and all the bolt-on's will swap right over. Rich Smith |

sorry about the delay. yes the g54b 2.6l mitsubishi. That is great info, so basically I can use the 2.0 crank, and the 2.6 pistons and rods; "is that correct?" and I can even go for higher compression pistons? That sounds lovely if I got that right. i happen to have two spare starion blocks collecting space. Are there any better options for heads or is the stock one, or magna one the best there is?

But first you must acertain exactly which block you will be using. The are 2 main bearing sizes, early Large and later smaller. ------------------------------------------------------- > so which one should I use? the larger or > smaller?and how would I know the difference? Or I > would need to know what exactly to get Victor, Here is an example of a reground 2.0L Crankshaft Kit available right now from an eBay vendor ($140 + $50 shipping): Ebay Item No. 270222884161 You are going to need to do your own homework to find out if the 2.362" main bearing journals on this crank match your Starion engine. Start with the published specifications for your car... and then MEASURE your 2.6L crank to verify. Early G54 & G52 engines (1970's) have the larger journals. Later engines (1980's) have the smaller journals. But there are anomalies, especially in the 2.0L (G52) engines. Mitsubishi made these engines for almost 20 years and put them in everything from forklifts to Starions. So make sure you MEASURE. As far as heads go, just start with what you've got and change the camshaft to suit your target performance. You can always replace it later if you want to. There are earlier 2-valve heads with solid rockers, but the ports are smaller. There are later 3-valve heads with solid rockers... usually found in Minivans. My opinion is that your destroked engine will spool up fast if you do something about a flywheel that's lighter than OEM. But I would still lean toward building the engine for torque rather than super-high RPM. The engine can hold the torque, but may have difficulty staying together at sustained high RPM. If it was me I'd build a street or rallycar to stay under 6,000. Rich Smith |

Victor, To clarify your questions: - Yes, you can use the 2.0L crank. - Yes, you can use either 2.6L or 2.0L rods. (They're identical) - No, you can't use OEM 2.6L pistons. You must get new pistons. Call JVL to source cheap Forged Pistons. Rich Smith |
