Do you suppose just one upright would be enough? I don't know if having the triangle is needed. Make a T instead ?

Kind of a scary thought Gene. More because you're adding a new point of failure at the T junction since there is new weird forces there.
Mark did FEA or whatever that stress analysis shit is called on the style we're building. With 3/4 rod it was more than strong enough and the weak point was right where expected. Interestingly, Gussetting the inside, like on the motorsport tools doesn't actually increase the strength, but does look pretty cool.
We're going to build a few sets when we get back from India

the stands are expensive in general, but I just went through it and they have a lot of stuff that's a lot cheaper than what I've seen around here (aluminum tape, certain tools, flap discs)...trying to see if they'll ship to the US, not an option it looks like.

Square tube is easier to cut, miter, and get fit right.

Round tube is sexier...

stop being naive, lol, there are pro drivers in North America. They may not be the best drivers in the world, but they still are pro drivers.

Name names. I don't know ANYBODY in North America Whose SOLE income comes from Rally. That's how I'd define a "Pro"

Its not JUST being paid.

So, under this,

ACP, Pastrana, Block, Antonie (did I get that right?), Pat Richard, Pinker, Foust...

The successful national drivers I would consider pro.

"Oh, but they're only successful HERE." Wow. OK, they're still successful though.

"Well, only because no one here ACTUALLY KNOWS HOW TO DRIVE." Way to slam Adam Crane, Tom Burress, Mark Mager, Cody Crane, John Lane.....

"But they dont count" Because you never attack people that arent corporate backed?

"But but, well, ENERGY DRINKS WILL KILL US ALL!/SUBARU IS THE WORST THING EVER/ONLY FORD AND VOLVO SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO RALLY/INSERT OTHER ABSURD THINGS HERE" Now your just being ridiculous.

When you have a good argument of why they aren't considered a pro, let me know. Some of you are taking vendettas way to far, and beating dead horses BEYOND the point of jello and glue.

And to whom ever responds, please, don't quote this, if you start shouting I'll realize its me whom your talking to. Quoting me just makes it harder to read.

Some children think words mean whatever they have a whim for them to mean.
Pro is short for "Profession" and profession, although the roots once were "what you profess"--or CLAIM----so in an unintentionally ironic way maybe could be looked at as being close to what Timmy means---it is generally accepted to mean "a skilled occupartion that's pays your fuckin bills like mortgage, electricity, food, buys your cars etc".

I have never seen a definition of pro being "Extravagantly wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars to beat some low budget guys" .

You simply don't get it, kid.

You are impressed with what you've seen but you have no real yardstick to compare what you've seen with anything else.

Does "Pro" mean "It impresses me"?

Guess it means anything anybody wants it do mean.

As they say in California: "Like, whatever, doooood"

I'm am taking it easy on Timmy, and we talk on the phone. about the same shit.

To anybody who has done something as a PROFESSION, people playing at things and then trumpeting their paying for play as "professional" is demeaning and insulting to those who have worked hard to actually do professional level work.

And kids defending the devaluation of both the reality of and the meaning of the word "Professional" or "Pro" has always annoyed the fuck out of me both before I was a professional in motorsports and after I quit.

You didn't but Timmy certainly did and listed quite a list of people who we all know full well pay their mortgages via other persuits, didya notice?

Ford has used both, I have done square, VW seems to like round on later stuff, square on earlier.

If the fit was decent square plug ins into square tube would certainly resist rotation better, maybe that's good, maybe they'll bind when jacking down one end.

Since nothing means anything, then things are all the same so do "like whatever!!"
