Aren't those just stock headlight equivalents for mounting in the oem location?

They're essentially a replacement for the "Par 56" lamp. I've seen references to that all over the place, and I know we used to use Par 64's for theater lights. Just a generic sealed, round, incandescent lamp.

Price isn't listed there, nor is any necessary technical specifications.

From my perspective, I look at the beam pattern first, followed by brightness, followed by power consumption.

I changed the light rules last year or the year before... The NRS rules now say it just has to be "symmetric", not even. It's just to prevent stupid, crappy mismatched lights that would look junky.

Curious: Wouldn't stupid, crappy mismatched lights be something of a safety hazard? I'd think even the suggestion that a rule was based upon appearance would open up a can of worms.

COMPETITORS SHALL, PRIOR TO EACH EVENT, HAVE ANY AND ALL COSMETIC REPAIRS DONE AT AN ASE-CERTIFIED FACILITY. DENTS, SCUFFS, SCRAPES AND ALL OTHER EXTERIOR BLEMISHES (TO INCLUDE INTERIOR BLEMISHES SUCH AS FADED, WORN OR OTHERWISE DIRTY SEATS) WILL SERVE AS GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL FROM THE EVENT, WITH ALL FEES FORFEIT. ADDITIONALLY, ALL RALLY CARS MUST BE WASHED, WAXED, AND FULLY DETAILED BY THE EVENT SPONSOR PRIOR TO TECH.

I know the CARS ruleset has a requirement that cars be 'presentable' at scrutineering. No holes, rust or other visual flaws. (It also isn't heavily policed)

Most HTAs have regulation over accessory lights and where and how many can be placed on the car. Typically they call for them to be added in pairs.

Presentable got to the extreme under the Spitzner regime. I think you were even supposed to have crew in matching polo shirts. I like the center light idea ala the Tucker. You could probably fit three on each side of the center for a 9 light bar. Hmmm. Headlight - driving - fog - pencil - center - pencil - fog - driving - headlight:

Anybody want to photoshop it? BTW, nice cars in background not photoshopped! I see a Porsche and an Austin-Healey on the left, but what is on the right?

I didn't "suggest" it, I said it. That's the reason. It's cosmetic. smiling smiley I know it's more fun to imagine insurance company cabals and backrooms filled with unpublished safety data that competitors don't get to see.... but that's the reason.

Ugly, check.
Odd number of lights, check.
Contrary to every rule, theory, or automotive standard, check.

Something about those SAAB guys...

I like this option. Has anyone here used this light pod? I'd like to know exactly how the lights are attached, so I can make sure I buy the right stuff. They don't sell the rings anymore, but those were only for PIAA lights anyway. Buying from the "replacement" section of KC Hi Lites looks like an awesome way to go, because I don't need the wiring, switches, and stock mounting stuff.

GE 250W Halogens. About $12 each. Hell on the alternator (you can hear it whine) and it requires a dedicated relay for each light, but they work.

These suckers will BURN YOU if you stand too close.

Nice.
Along the same line Phillips 4049 are 150w 13v for about the same price, $12-14. They're 5.75" diameter, so you'd either need to buy housings (google grote par 46 housing ) or mount them some other way. I've got some to go on the volvo. Nothing wrong with some old school sealed beam action because the price sure is right.
