A pre-'87,non-intercooled version......Looks like the intercoled version 'cept for the turbo pipes diret to the intake. The turbo downpipe may be custom as the O2 sensor (back between the 3rd and 4th spark plug wires) is pointed 90 degrees to the left of the position for the intercooled O2 sensors. I see a fule pressure gage by the far left strut tower; looks like a good think to break and spray gas all over....! Part of the PCV system and oil-air separator have been deleted. Has the brake MC been angled off to the left? Looks like it. Thiiick radiator; can't see any fans, electric or otherwise. Would be interesting to see what was done for that.

Don't believe these negative answers, you're into something. Go for it! They're scared! They KNOW you'll blow their door off...
As for required skill level, ah... that's nothing. Just cut the harness, lift the engine, swap it and solder wires again and fire her up. That's it. An easy weekend swap.

Put the bottle down, du super den där Finsk K-spirit för mycket, du fattar inte vem snubben är.
No negative answers here, just an honest assesment.
What is an easy weekend swap for you is a probable 3-4 year, 700-1000 detailed posts, emails, PMs with each answer generating 5 more questions.

The question of why lays un-addressed.

John are these the same forged Mahle pistons you put in my 2.4L ?

http://specialstage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7935&highlight=starion+pistons

John you seemingly dis-agree that I can have this swap completed in 2 years.

So how about this :

If it's ready by (or before) Mt. Trials 2011, then you come and crew for me for the weekend.

If it's not ready then, I'll pay for you, your wife, and child/ren 2 nights here : http://www.semiahmoo.com/

The only conditions are that we put the past in the past and move on, we mend fences, and you sell me a set or 2 of pistons. :-)

The problem is once you have called a person a theif, criminal, incompetent, idiot, etc all over the Inter-net, it is there forever.
Just like your threat to "drop a dime" and call INS on Skye, and rat him out---a truly slimy and revealing threat---and a stupid one too since Skye was legally here working on a B1 visa--- you can deny it all you want but the threat was there, and is there.

As long as the words are there, both towards me and towards Skye, your offer to put thing in the past is well stupid.
Your words ARE STILL PRESENT IN THE HERE AND NOW, so there is no past on the Intra-webz.

You can't have it both ways, ie call people shit, crook, idiot, blame them for everything, sneer this and sneer that, then do like Maxwell Smart and say "That will not happen again".

I showed my wife your PM, remember she is a very calm, cool character, she burst out "He cannot be serious!"

You are not to be trusted.
You violated your very generous confinement to a limited space by signing up under a new name, again doing whatever you want then justifying it later.

As just one example of why i think it is a waste of time, a simple question was asked "Why?" and no response.

Why should anybody waste any time answering questions when the main point is not clear?

Nope, no point wasting time.

And I urge others not to waste their time.

Wow !!!

I bet you just hated that I didn't take the bait of all your critisism in this build thead. You've said absolutely nothing constructive, I even asked you to go post in "off topic" if you felt the need to shit talk me.

But you kept posting here.

Still I tried to extend a challenge that included a weekend away for you and your family.

You may want to go look at the archieves as your recollection of facts is blurry.

I'm not going to get sucked back into this with you John.

Why is the "why" so important to you ?

It is not my intention to have the perfect rally car. I'd like to use it for hill climbs, rallies, and even taking it to the dragstrip (if I wanted). More power certainly would be benificial.

But if you're solely asking "why" in order to open up a debate about the 2.4L, then I'm not interested.

I'll ask you again :

Please don't post in this thread unless you have something constructive to contribute to my build / swap.

Look, thereäs no ÄBaitÄ. tThe fact you think and use words like that shows you are of some different level, some different sort of mentality from me and ALL the guys here i have spoken with.
And I have spoken with LOTS, probably most guys here at one time or another.

I have normal human emotions and so even if i see somebody who I know is a slimey fuck-head, I still feel bad to see somebody fucking themselves badly with their own stupidity. So a couple of words of advice.
Not a peace offering as long as your words are enshrined in the Intre-net, just words of honest advice.

As one of the best mechanics I know in years said, he would be loath to do this job.

A challenge? You think this is a game? Again, a bizarre and to me warped view of the world.

You have the unmitigated gall to come out of where you belong---cut off from the general population----and tell ANYBODY not to post in a thread?

Again, that shows no comprehension of the normal, clear, easy to understand way the world in general and THIS PLACE in particular works.

I don't want to see lots of people wasting their time telling you stuff only for you to ignore their advice, and then either flood this place with thousands of questions you ought to be able to find yourself or start with your blaming of everybody for everything.

Get serious.

Please tell me that you're done and have gotton it all off your chest.

Yeah you dislike me and I "use" to dislike you (alot).

You don't want to help me with this swap, that much is clear. I'm sorry I asked about the pistons, I really am.

If anyone want's to read about the past I'm sure they'll go and cruise the archives.

If you feel the need to flame, be my guest.

Been reading this and have to agree with the CAR RELATED posts that this is going to be a very cool swap. It is a shame that the Starion is getting parted for it - but hopefully it gets a cool engine swap too!

From your basic plan, and having the complete donor car to work from is a HUGE advantage. It's definitley a project - but my no means is it absurdly difficult.

My only suggestion is to do like you mentioned and get the Starion running with all the goodies on it and sorted out before doing the swap. I'd also keep the Starion around till the swap is done and running nice.

Good luck with the swap! I'd sure like to see you get it done and on stage. Vintage rides like this with some crazy power are AWESOME to watch...

I'm fond of all the oddball stuff though being a hardcore Peugeot guy...

Rabin

The car was recently sold to a nice fellow in BC and it is said that he will be rebuilding and refreshing all the things neglected by the 2 previous owners.
What is it that you're curious about?

I picked up an engine and tranny for Warwick too. If anyone has any unique ideas for getting it out to PNW I'd love to hear them. Or is planning a road trip to Denver. All my trips out that way keep getting cancelled.

I don't have a clue. Just was chatting with Warwick at Olympus and he mentioned there was a cheap one coming out of a Chump Car build for sale for super cheap in Colorado. Turned out the guy was near to me and Scott has a truck so we went and picked it up for him.
