Yeah pretty much is what I think is happening. Either that or it is pushing on the universal joint and making it kinda hard to turn. I'm not totally sure actually. It feels like it is dragging a bit, and we haven't had time to figure out the exact reason.

How hard is it without power steering?

Hrm that would be a neat trick if you could swap the pinion. I've heard that there are some swaps that work, and some that don't. Haven't tried myself.

Going to use the OEM belt-driven pump or using an electric?

The Colt has an unassisted rack and a welded diff.

It's a bit of a pain to parallel park on pavement, but on gravel at speed you can't even notice it isn't assisted.

Drivable but not raceable, as it would be a continuous fight.

OEM(with a cooler), hopefully rebuilt/modified by Howe to combat the usual Honda P/S cavitation at very fast inputs.
