Yeah pretty much is what I think is happening. Either that or it is pushing on the universal joint and making it kinda hard to turn. I'm not totally sure actually. It feels like it is dragging a bit, and we haven't had time to figure out the exact reason.

How hard is it without power steering?
Hrm that would be a neat trick if you could swap the pinion. I've heard that there are some swaps that work, and some that don't. Haven't tried myself.
