The EBC crap is just that, crap/junk/shit/etc... NOT a race pad. The mintex you have on there is probably better than anything you might've thought of replacing it with.

For the Golf I'm not sure of applications but I know that Andy Porterfield has them for you and he uses a very good mix in his friction compounds. So if you dont want to get anymore Mintex, get Porterfields. And $200 for a carset of race pads is you robbing them. Double that would be more in line with what it costs to others.

Hawk pads are okay for the price, but they use lead and clay fillers as lubricants to they will trash your fenders, wheels, and chew up the disks.

Ferodo DS2500's... mehh, not that great, pretty flat torque but no initial bite, and need replacing quite often if you're any fast or left foot braker.

I would recomend Performance Friction but there's no shapes for you, only for the more expenssive stuff is made.

Just do yourself a favor and call Andy Porterfield or Tim Gray at Porterfield Entprs 949-548-4470

That's funny, I was marshalling the final Sat stage at RNY and saw the sparks, the silver Audi was sparking like crazy too.

A friend who does track driving suggested Carbo Tech. I spoke to them on the phone today and it is a small family company that seems very knowledgeable, pricey though (around $280 front and rear).

We joke about the carbotech guy that he's respraying the pads in his basement. Most likely friction from hawk or TMD (TMD is mintex and pagid's company)

From what I hear they use bigger pads from monoblock calipers as donors and cut them to any shape. Most likely the GT3R cup car pads. Porterfield also does that with Performance Friction but only for apps not offered by PFC and is fully disclosed as a PFC pad cut to shape. Andy does that on a regular basis.

Well he did say he would have to order backing plate cores for the fronts. Are you suggesting that the pads are bogus or just teasing about whose core plates he's using?

What? So he doesnt he stock them? So what that probably means is once you order your stuff they will buy it from whoever they buy and cut them.

You have better options out there, Porterfield has yours in stock, and from what Josh and Oscar have said they work great.

What compound? I had carbotechs on my Subaru for a track day. The trailing edge wore down noticably more than the leading edge...I wasn't impressed.

On my VW, I run Porterfield R4s. They've worked great for me...although I just this year fixed my bias so I can actually slam on the brakes...we'll see how they hold up at NEFR and Ojibwe.
