I heard John Lane withdrew his entry to Idaho because of this thread.
Actually I just made that up.
I heard he withdrew because he was afraid.
Just kidding.

Grant you are going to bring about a flame-fest akin to what came of my offering to deliver a VW suspension to Idaho this way!

We just have too much to do on the car....
We've not enough time....
We are not willing to put all the effort into having it thrashed together to end up with a DNF or worse for not being well and truly ready for Idaho.

The whole team who has been helping to get the Volvo ready is very disappointed.... But this is racing.

We will whoop everyone's butt at Pomeroy. Again. With the Volvo looking good and having all the details worked out in the car.

Many thanks to all for your encouragement and support.

Jason and I are looking forward to Idaho for next year.

Almost certainly with a fuel cell in the trunk.

I know. What a dick I am.
I figured that was why. I think every rallyist at some point in time has had to pull the plug on an event they were planning to run because there just isn't enough time or funds to be fully ready to do it right. Well, us club level guys anyhow...

John,

I'm sorry to hear that you won't make it!

Everyone,

Back on topic. I was reading the homologation papers for my Saab 96 and noticed that they included an alternate, larger OEM tank. It is a plain steel tank that fits into the standard location. How does R.A. and NASA feel about that?

Robert.
I lost my mind and bought a 1973 Saab 96!

Doood, it's got homologation papers, the FIA approved it! Well, at least they did a long time ago...

And Robert! Did you let JV brainwash you or something? Actually, the 96 is the last good car SAAB made. Kinda wish I still had that V4 Monte Carlo that I helped my codriver Gary Reynolds buy and drove it on the Evergreen State 1000.

Dave it was tooooooo funny.
He drove like a maniac the green car out front with a nice near copy of 1969 RAC winning motor, normal rally springs and shocks, stitch welded front end and a standard box.
It's way quicker than my GTI, the brakes are twice as good! The steerings way quicker, there's zero torque steer, it's just WAY BETTER---I HAVE TO HAVE ONE!!!!!"

Then I pointed out: Its a rust bucket that shell, the tires are certainly 20 years old, tire pressure hasn't been looked at in years and worst of all, he was driving it HARD on ASPHALT.

The car brainwashed him.

Psssst, he lusts badly for an Ascona, too.

Smart boy, eh?

on a different note, John, do you run your twin pump setup with both pumps running or as two seperate pumps in case one fails?

I'm a John, so I'll say what I do: on my low powered thang, I run both pumps on stages, and alternate 1 and 2 on alternate transits so I have a clue if any of the junk sliding around in the trunk has knocked a lead off.

Bear in mind in this day of every pimple-sqeezing live at home STI-guy having 245 l/hr pumps, we see Ford Motorsport with 150 l/hr PUMP running 40mm restrictor motors or about 390bhp.

Maybe one will do but I know when I have lost a pump lead, I wasted LOTS of time fingering out that it was the pump gone, I would have lost ZERO with both running and first noticed just past the Control Boards, duh!

Hey Tom Robert and I want to know if you're on schedule for You're The toe to I'd a hoe?

It looks like we are on John Lane's road, we are on the edge, but we need to find another ECU locally before mid-day tomorrow to be able to attempt to get the car started

I am planning on withdrawing tomorrow unless we find one.

Tom the pair of fuel pumps I use are run in series.

Should one pump not be running it is easy to hear that the other is working much harder then usual.

My arrangement is what is used in Mercedes on any gas powered 124 or 140 chassis car. Cheap, reliable, quiet when working as they should.

Are you going to make it to Idaho?

I'm disappointed that we will not be keeping the all of them honest.

Maybe......Ojibwe?
