Parts to Idaho from PNW
June 29, 2009 12:30PM
Okay, so my rear beam's STA mount is getting more and more tweaked. Probably around -3 or 4 degrees or more of camber after this past weekend's hill climb. Wondering if anyone in the PNW that's on here has a beam they want to donate or sell to me and if there's anyone going to Idaho willing to pick it up and bring it with them.

If JV doesn't have them stacked up like cordwood at his place and nobody else out that way offers, and if somebody in New England is going that way, I think I have a spare or two under the shed.

But I would think a PNW one would be less rusty and much more easily obtained.

Ninja edit: if anybody from Chicago way is going, I bet Merkur Parts Midwest has them stacked up like cordwood, too.

No, cause we keep hearing "Things have a way of disappearing......" from your buddies.

I'll take care of my friends my way.

First quote for windshield came in at $456. More than a spare shell with a good windshield. Annoying.

No John, just last weeek heard from a guy I was trying to help who didn't want to drop off a simple box full of bearings to be picked up same afternoon because as he said to my friend "I heard things disappear over there".
So somebody is repeating shit years later, about ME that makes me wonder just which of you or your friends has been keeping it alive.

May be on the hunt for a windshield too. $457 for new so far is best found...
Found a junkyard car with a supposedly good one for $75 on the western slope, about 3 hour drive over the Rockies. Full rear suspension (STAs and beam) for $100 from same place. May be worth the drive if I can get over there.

Hey John, you and William ever get anywhere on the rear beam reinforcement kit. I'll probably just grab a sheet of steel from this place that lets us grab scraps for free and use the plasma cutter to reinforce the f out of it if not.

How's about Supra stuff? Next event is Rally Colorado in mid September and would love to have the lower final drive by then...

OK you guys, settle down. Last week I dropped off a box o' bearings there. If this box o'bearings you refer to is my box o'bearings, what I said to your friend when it turned out the easiest way to get 'em to him was to drop it off at your place, was I better put my name on that box so it wouldn't disappear. Big difference. The JVL empire is rather full of unmarked boxes of car parts, eh what, and I didn't want this box to get lost in the shuffle and that's all. I myself never heard John Lane say word one about anyone's parts disappearing, on accident or otherwise, at chez VanLandingham. I however, have noticed that my project, for which this box o'bearings is intended, is following Murphy's Law every fucking step of the way. All I was trying to do was head off another chance for my shit to go wrong and that's all. So relax man. No harm intended, by me or Lane. Now kiss and make up, there aren't enough rallyista round here to afford blood feuds.

Found a windshield! $165 installed going in tomorrow.
Beauty of the internet. Sent an email out to Colorado Merkur mailing list an hour ago, got a response as to the location of a shop that had one. Awesome.

That's a damn good price! Lucky man. Usually when I actually need something, I can't find anything for a decent price.

A box by the door full of brand new Toyota bearings sitting for maybe 3 hours before they get picked up getting lost?
Seems just a tad overreactive worry, Jay.

I myself never heard

John's not the only one that talks shit. you have other mutual friends.

Well Jay, you must have heard it someplace, and you didn't hear it from anybody who is here regularly..
Let's just say I'm kinda sick of helping people who later say really rude shit such as "I've known you for XX years and it's never looked like you have two nickles to rub together..."

And " I wish I'd never lent you the down payment for that house" which was actually the earnest money, $1200, not asked for but greatly appreciated, and paid in full at first opportunity.

Pretty fucking low to lend something and because of differences in political views say some shit like that---get it wrong---8 years later.

Fuck that shit.
I don't measure what I have, that's a simple minded measure about the same as the same sortta shit "if you're so smart, then why aren't you rich?"

Fuck that too.

Some people worried about the appearance of status and position in some imagined hierarchy are so culturally bankrupt that they can't conceive of any other measure of wealth than the most simple and rudimentary.

I pity them in the obvious emptiness of their existence where never an original thought ever is hatched, where the head is full of violent fantasies of a world so dangerous that one must always be carrying firearms, and where so much hate and contempt for millions of people spill out constantly.

Fuck that.
