Yeah!!! There it is.
And yes, US tech director says this is not allowed. I'm just pointing out that in other countries, nay, in a WRC event, possibly the biggest WRC event, this is likely what we are seeing on that car and it appears to pass tech by the FIA. Grant Hughes |

Good find Grant!
Mike's argument to me about why a second sleeve covering a remote fill hose just doesn't hold water. In fact Mike's definition of fire proof is illogical. I think that this portion of the rule book is in dire need of review. Robert. "You are way too normal to be on Rally Anarchy." Eddie Fiorelli. |

In 2011 drivers will not be allowed inside the vehicle at all. You will have to drive your car by radio control while sitting in the grandstands of a closed course. In 2012 you will not even need a car at all (unless you want to build one for the fun of it and park it in your garage.) You will send in your entry information and fee via email (direct deposit or Paypal accepted) and the day after the rally date RA will email everyone the results. |

That's why they have bilge pumps, basements are dank, and beer soaks into your unpainted garage floor. It's slow and minor, but concrete is porous. Like a very tight sponge. Concrete tanks are lined with "something" suitable to it's purpose. Epoxy, rubber, a thin steel tank inside.... etc. etc. Otherwise the surface of a filled tank would be slightly damp all the time unless conditions are right for evaporation. Personally, I'd rather see most rule books encased in concrete. Happy New Year!!! |

So who's the aluminum box fabrication specialist?
I was thinking a bottomless box with an upper flange similar to this... http://markm330.fatcow.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/3pcbox/rP1010052.JPG Weld the bottom of the box to my fuel cell can. Grommets for the feed, return, and vent line coming out. Lid is held on with 4-6 Dzus fittings and has a gasket for filling fuel. Seems to me to be the easiest and quickest option. Could be done in steel or aluminium fairly easy depending upon fuel cell box. Grant Hughes |

There will be a lot less drop from your sheet of material if you make a channel piece for the center and two ends. That way there are no deep box bends and all the parts are rectangles without any deep corner notches. If you post up the dimensions you want and the material thickness I can make you a flat pattern easily.

I realized that what I was talking about is actually really simple to make since it's a 'bottomless' box more or less.
Figure the fill plate is 10X6. So make the box 12X8 with height of 6" and flange of 1/2-1". The lid thus will be a 12X8 flat piece. So you need an 8" wide piece of 18 gauge or so thickness aluminium or steel that is about 54" in length to build the box. Hole saw out for the grommets and you're done. Grant Hughes |
