Eh don't worry about this Tim. Everything that has been done on my build (minus the cage) has been with the following tools: hammer, haxsaw, 6" vice, drill press, 110v MIG and an angle grinder. No fancy brakes, bandsaws or lathes. Some of it looks like hell, but it will get the job done smiling smiley

Thanks, but he doesn't bother me. He can say what he wants about my work, or how I do it.

How's your car coming along? (ps, what were your original posts? grinning smiley haha)

I don't know what the deal is. looks good to me and those welds are not that bad
at all I have seen some cars hit the stage that should be pulled out and crushed

Also you know mig hard wire is not considered a structural weld anyway! it
deposits more weld than can be layed in its root any one that is good with a stick
and dual shield knows what I mean

so keep it up man

I'm going on the guess that he was either giving me shit, or trying to provoke me. I'm going with the former.

The little inside upper corner gussets on the half lateral

More weight saved! Here are all the pieces that reinforced the rear seat belts/mounts

Here is the entire pile

For those who are curious, the break down is this;

Each E brake rear cable guide was 2.9oz (2)

Each upper rear spring was 5.1oz (2) [one of mine was 4.7, but as you can tell from the pic... it didnt cooperate....]

Each frame rail upper 4 link mount was 5.9oz (2)

And then the seat plates were 17.3oz, 15.5oz, and 21.7oz

Total savings: 5.12 pounds... It's not super impressive but it didnt take that long to do, and anything to offset the cage weight helps

It lived here

And all the big holes on the frame rails are covered with these little thin discs

Go Dazey, Go!

You win the "go get it" prize for hardest working DIY rallycar. If all goes well you and I will have a 2-liter grudge match at Doo-Wops this year. (uglyvolvo is coming along.) Keep it up.
