John....absolutely a couple 1/2 beads on the corners would be enough!

Alas...i know Dan is going nuts just looking for places to practice welding skills!

My vote is to put the 2nd one in the trunk. In one of the back corners works just fine. Chances are the trunk is as far from any potential fire as possible, And once you have the key in the lock, you can get into the trunk almost quicker than the rear doors.

Dan....what seat you got in there?? If it goes missing you know where to look winking smiley

I may have to bug you for a test fit....

It's an "internal floorboard skidplate" all the cool kids have them...

tongue sticking out smiley

I am totaly new to welding, so:

- I don't really trust anything I weld and therefore overdo most of it.
- I'm looking for any excuse to learn (this was one)
- I'm still on my first spool... sad smiley
- I had allot of fun welding thing to my shell last weekend :-]

(Yeah I know... overkill. You can't even imagine what's under there too)

It's a Cobra Seibring GT... Big(ish) seat. Very, very supportive and comfy! I'm a 38 waist, over 200 lbs and 5'11. It fits me just right. The wings are a bit low. I have a Peltor helmet and the wider areas around the ears are the only reason the head supports work, with my old track helmet, it seemed like the wigs were too low.

You're welcome to test it out. I ~may~ have it in Nuwan's car for Tall Pines.

And, I have been told at tech (in Canada) that at least one of the the fire bottles needs to be within reach ot the team while strapped in.

So we had one on the floor below codriver's feet (bracket welded to floor, through bolts get torn off bottom of my rally cars) and one in the back on drivers side (bracket hose clamped to cage tube).

There is always gonna be a new tech guy who wants to improve things (cost you more time and money), or the same old tech guy who got his cage rattled since last year ;-) Just wait til they mandate those new scrotum restraint systems.

Hey I figured practice was a part.
I know when I've been stich welding and trying to stick to the 1/2" every 1 1/2" that sometimes its welding so nice and clean and flowing out good you just can't stop.
