Revolution Wheels maybe able to help, I had the off set, diameter, width, etc I needed for the R5 Turbo and they were able to help. It could be worth looking over sea's for options. Tire wise there are vintage tires available aside from racing tires, autocross etc..
It would be worth sometime an effort to look at gearing and figure tires in to this equation to get a usable set-up. Remembering that a peaky engine is harder to drive as far as staying in the power band in real world driving. Also that the bigger the wheel & tire package the greater the mass that needs spun up to speed, turned and stopped and will eat up torque and momentum ... Camshaft will effect use of gearing, tire/wheel run out will effect overall axle ratio and RPM drop when shifting ... NSU were fast in the day, so should be great fun today. I think the "ideal" tire would be a low profile 14" job.. but those are even harder to find. I've always thought that the NSU typ. 67s (1000, tt, tts) look way under wheeled with 13" wheels.. they are small cars, but they aren't THAT small. I don't believe that some light wide 15" 3 piece rims and low profile 15" rubber will be significantly heavier. I'm also not aiming to make a really peaky motor.. if I'm going for that, I might as well figure out how to get a 180-200hp bike motor in the thing. Andrew M Onterrible 30ish |

There's a surprising amount of them around when you have your ear to the ground. I am going to pick up another 1000 just over the boarder if all goes well this weekend. It's a much needed parts car and has totally rotten floors.. so I'm going to do the body drop on that car and the shell that I've got now will be left intact (it's got nice floors ![]() Cheers, Andrew Andrew M Onterrible 30ish |

My trepidations with going 14" are: - Almost no companies are making rims for this size and many that were have stopped.. I just got word that Compomotive is dumping even there 15" line of 3 piece rims. - How much longer will good choices of rubber remain in 14"? Too bad there aren't more shorter 14-15" tires. I think the ideal tire OD would be around 21"... AFAIK you can only get that in a 13" tire.. the 15" tires I've found are shorter than those 14" tires and 15" tires & rims are way more popular (obviously). With the Avon CR500s with an 8" rim, I can run 195/45 R15 for an OD of 21.8" a full inch shorter than those 14" toyos. Andrew M Onterrible 30ish |

I'll look around for some. Tony Lathom may have one he's ridden in it albeit 14 years ago with Vern Johnson at the wheel ... If I snapped a photo in the current condition there would be a lynch mob at my door soon afterwards. Someone was asking me about it a month or two ago, one of the local rally guys. Adam Crane, caught me when I was in the back yard burning something on the BBQ. As always IMHO SEAN TENNIS KF7JJR SEATTLE, WASHINGTON SAAB 99, SAAB 850 SAAB V4, SAAB 99T |
