Dry sump, carbs; mmmm tasty. From the color, it is obvious it was built by JVL.

Nice. Takes care of the rather short trailing arm BMW seems to be married to.

See the short arm means you limit how much it swings---fine for asphalt---or you have nasty changes going on

In the frtont, changing to a design that eliminates BMWs old school strut tube welded into the spindle forging---bad for service--- and gets rid of the tiny little spindle hanging out upsupported to something like a modern fwd upright with BIG bearings and forces passing thru the center of the bearing can only be a good thing.

Takes care of both the major drawbacks to using a BMW on gravel.

Is it stock stuff or 909 Group A stuff? Is the rear the STA style still or the really late Escort multi-link. I can't view the site at work...
The front suspension from the Merkur could be used on the front of the Starlet if you have an in-situ adjustable TCA and comp strut. You have to flip the sides and run the driver's Merkur setup on the passenger side of the Starlet, but it's definitely doable. My Merkur rear shocks could easily be used in the rear with a proper four link setup. Probably could use the calipers, rotors, and wheels from the Merkur too. Pretty cool stuff.
