Mmm Torque. Make sure you get some beefy axles.

No more mosquitos at the start line...

Was it Eaton that used to rally the diesel Puegot? Huge clouds of black smoke when he took off, probably gave emphysema to bunches of start crews winking smiley

Good luck with the build, ought to be a fun year watching the VWs battle it out.

Yes Gary Eaton who's black smoke mixed with gravel roster tails will be remembered by more then one worker. Me included. He made that thing go rather well back in the day.

I think he ran the boost all the way up, no waste gate for him. Clearly he also opened up the fuel curve a bit. I recall he said the factory guys said he could run X so he figured 2x was safe.

In the long run reality always wins.

I am sure it will take a change in driving style to get it right. I think we will likely install a clutch-diff and run stock gearing.

Getting used to upshifting instead of running all the way to redline will take some getting used to.

Not sure. That depends on whether we can come up with enough money to have two complete cars. Maybe the old one will be stripped out and used for Euro-rallycross...

My buddy the formula car guy told me about the tanker truck full of special synthetic diesel that Audi dragged around with them for the r10, he said it smelled GOOD.

Then I support this project - no offense to the Greasecar guys, but those cars smell terrible!
