I do just happen to have a 2,3 Duratec just laying around.
I was thinking of using it to develop mounts and stuff to allow folk an easy method to drop strengthen version into their Xratties.

You know the rods are really weak, right?
Now interestingly, the 2,0 and the 2,3 have pistons same diameter, same compression hgt and same pin, ONLY difference is 2,0 are flat tops and 2,3 have a big fawking dish.

Well if'n weeze going make sumpin Noraml Asp, the we could see about using the 2,0 FLAT TOPS into the 2,3 block and use the 2,3 dished into a 2,0 TURBO motore.
Pretty neat, except with turbo we'd want a steel crank (easy from a Mazda 3 speed).

What you have in mind? (The one I have is outta a N/S rwd application)

Gonna cut the floor up and go RWD?
(There's a Hungarian guy up in BC that wants me to do that in his spare--untitled---Focus, shove the hunk of firewall and floor into it from the Xratty shaell I have.)

Well...ACTUALLY, a friend of mine was looking for a 2.0 or 2.3 to put into a MKII and asked me if I knew of anybody who has one for a reasonable price and be willing to ship it. Do you think you'd be down for something like that, or should I look around a little more for one from another place?

I would LOVE to develop one o' those mofo's for the Foci, but right now (as usual), dollars are not on my side. I'd rather address brakes and suspension stuff before I start swapping engines. Weight management and power production will come later.

What? MkII? MKII what? Escort?

The thing as some noise that was suspected to be wrist pin by 2 experience mechanics I trust.
I suspect bent rod.
Its not apart yet so I can say if'n it worth anything except as core.

Okay, so yes, he plans on a total rebuild anyway. I don't think he wants the trans. What would we be looking at for a price on that bad mamajamma?
