If you use an LM2917 and an LM3914, you can have a bargraph.

The ecliptech does everything (fully programmable, adjusts output for nighttime automatically), and is pretty good value.

In place of the airbag - nice! I could see foot pedals for both sides of the car smiling smiley

I'm going to go ahead and order one of these. Had a good conversation with the owner of the company. Seems this is a very capable unit in that it can operate through-out any rev range you want, can be programmed for different display modes, auto-dimming at night and manual dimming control. For me, I'd like to set it up to operate in my power band as green and go to yellow 500 rpms prior to redline in red and flashing...of course all this could change as I use it. It should fit nicely in my peripheral line of site - and according to the owner - 7 lights is not an accidental number, apparently more actually reduces the percieved precision, as does less. I'm not sure how scientific the method for reaching these results, but it was based on many users and trial and error in practical application.

Anyway - seems like it will be more useful than a 'panic' light - which is the typical shift light strategy...
