Hate to be naive here - but noticed they have product for the Audi as well (not cheap).

What's the advantage to these? Hardened? Are they dogged?

Depends on the car, Audi and VW boxes are reliable stock so the gain is in better gear ratios not so much a stronger gear kit. Dog boxes shift a bit faster too, I did not look to see if these are dog engagement.

In the long run reality always wins.

Bacci produces dogboxes for FIATs etc...
Some of the ring and pinions on the site state that they are only for dogboxes

rally gods would turn in their graves if they ever knew Lada's were now part of EU rallying!!!

so if one was to be insane enough to build a dog box for the 4k - these guys would have the gears to do that. I'm not going to in the foreseable future - but its certainly one of those notions I'd tuck away in the back of my mind.

11/30 – 16/33 – 19/32 – 21/30 – 23/29

Rapporti al cambio sincronizzati -> Relationships to the synchromesh gear

With the crappy online translator. The picture looks like the gears are helical cut.

Some of the VW links are definitely for dog boxes though.

loosely translated it means "gear set of synchro transmission" - so no dog gears there smiling smiley

I wouldn't spend that kind of money for stock equipment - would rather buy a gearbox for a couple of hundred bux.

However the final drive parts seem like they would be useful - and certainly the LSD has an application for the front diff as it is open.

I could see running a torsen rear (available from 1990 era Audi 90's and Coups), perhaps leaving the locking center and an lSD front (I've heard of people putting torsen diff's up front as well - but that is never easy/cheap).

Actually, it is. The Torsen rear diff out of an Audi V8 Quattro will work in the front of an 016 tranny. You can get the Audi V8 rear diffs for a couple hundred bucks all day long. There is some minor machining that needs to be done to the side bearing housing on one side or something. The V8 has a larger bearing or something, I forget exactly. There are a couple of ways to do it.

This sounds like a great project for when I finish this build of the car. One step at a time.

I have a couple of 016's that need to be rebuilt, and several rear diffs - and you are right sourcing V8 stuff is pretty easy today (that will change in a few years - but hopefully I'll have one or 2 tranny/diff setups built).

Any ideas how that will affect turn-in on a car that is already bitchy about it?

This is not 100% VW related.. they have a bunch for em, but from my limited knowledge appears to be mostly for rear engined transaxles.

Loads of gears for all kinds of cars. Including super nice 1996 Group N subbie gears.
