Never, unfortunately, open cars are banned, fiberglass body panels are banned, self built vehicles are banned.

Hillclimb is the only form of motorsport left in North America, that allows significant levels of innovation and appeals to me. Here's to hoping RA doesn't muck it up too much before we get there smiling smiley.

I was being a little tongue in cheek there.

Frankly spaceframed cars is exactly what rally in north america needs (imo). It would certainly make car prep easier winking smiley

I wonder how many rallyist are seeing any meaningful money for rocking brand x? (it's been a while since I've paid attention to contingency funds).

BTW: AFAIK you're allowed glass panels that are bolt on and off.. that's why I have a hope for the Simca (almost everything bolts on/off).

Removable door bars are legal. Take a read of fia article 253.

"8.3.2.1.2 Doorbars :
One or more longitudinal members must be fitted at each side of
the vehicle according to Drawings 253-8, 253-9, 253-10 and 253-
11 (Drawings 253-9, 253-10 and 253-11 for cars homologated as
from 01/01/2007).
They may be removable.[b/]"

And actually everything but the main cage structure can be removable (by one of the fia-approved methods.) The main cage being the main hoop, side laterals, rear backstays, and transverse windshield bar.

So the X in the main hoop, A-pillar reinforcements, door bars, roof bars, and any of the other optional reinforcements can all be removable. Additionally the cage may be mounted to the car by bolts using the methods approved in the article, it isnt required to be welded in.

At least thats what I get out of reading through the fia cage regulations.

I was being tongue in cheek with the door bar comment as in by the time I get a cage built a force field will be required kinda thing..

I've seen removable door bars, which is great. The X etc is news to me though. If it's allowed, that would be great.. you could actually try and use the car as weekend or whatever transportation.. winking smiley

I'm getting close to actually getting to where a build of some kind is foreseable..

I just need to find a place to stuff the shells I have in waiting where they won't deteriate like crazy and cost me all my build money in storage!

Actually the HALDEX is an incredible piece of equipment, originally developed while rallycrossing, programmable with a lap top, self contained pump & fully adjustable LSD lock-up capabilities to suit surface grip, can even be set up to correct/adjust LSD lock-up based on wheel slip live on road surface from feed back of wheel sensors ...

Pennsylvania hillclimbs are still SCCA-santioned events.

RA would be nesting in with the New England Hillclimb series.
